I'm surprised that they use steel brakes in the rear. My guess would be that initial bite would be different. Do other MB models do this as well?

Don't know why they did carbon ceramic front and steel rear, my E63 has carbon ceramics all around.

AMG rep told us it was a "price point" decision.

Still a bad decision in my opinion, same as changing the rear calipers design.

Funny BMW did the opposite https://m-power.com/_open/b/closedro...d=3145&lang=en

I have been told the CCB option for Canada is $13,500. Is that correct?

Nope... They are 7Gs I think. I can go check out my invoice...

The 13,500 is for the the E class and up because the carbon ceramics are all around. The C Class only has them on the front...

Would appreciate if you could check. I am buying a vehicle that has it as an option but I can't find it on the online configuration in Canada.

Edition1JPA, are you actually driving a C63 with CCBs? What do you think of them? Noisey? Feel? Worth it?

You can't burnish or bed a carbon ceramic rotor. It is done by the manufacturer on a brake dynamometer. Even a track doesn't get the rotors hot enough to transfer pad material to the disc. It's also why there aren't aftermarket pad options.

I have been talking to my dealer about upgrading to the CCBs for my steel rotored Edition 1. I took it to the track once and nearly caught the brakes on fire (see my other post about the track event elsewhere on this forum). My dealer is pretty cool as they have track events and are a significant AMG MB dealership so I trust their guidance and advice. They have looked into a CCB swap for me and were told by their AMG rep that it cannot be done as all non-CCB equipped cars have the "brake dry" system that will use the brakes periodically during rain to keep the rotors dry. ...and that there is no easy way to defeat that system (e.g.. Pulling fuse). This will cause problems with the CCB set up. So my question to Racing Brakes is have you investigated this as part of your kit for the C63 and to others in general if this is truly the case.

I would really love to get the CCB set up is possible.

Thanks.

We have never heard that before, and people from Porsche, Ferrari are switching to iron, while Nissan GTR track guys are switch to CCM and vice versa w/o any issue.

In fact we have shipped several orders to new GT S owners in converting the standard iron to CCM rotors.

We did heard all kind of CCM/CCB "scare" advice from the dealer and CCB must be served by "them" because they don't want you to deal with aftermarket suppliers.

RB is a full service CCM brake suppliers, we offer the newest brake technology to owners like you. We keep CCM disc in stock and also handle the very affordable re-furbishing service, which costs less than iron replacement rings.

We should discuss as I would really like to convert to CCBs. When I call, who should I ask for?

Racing Brake,

A bit off topic, but do the the W205 non-ceramic C63S front or rear pads cross reference with anything else?

I'm looking for replacement pads and not finding anything.

You should quote some CCM-R rotors for the serious track rats. About $12500 for the front axle but they last 4x longer than CCB.

There are two companies that make these discs for the Europeans OEM's. One makes CCB, one makes CCM. You can watch their manufacturing videos on YouTube.

Front pads for non-ceramic C63S are same as C63:
http://www.racingbrake.com/RB-ET500-.../pd1291-35.htm

Rears look to be same as AMG GT S but we do not offer those at this time.

We are pleased to inform you of our recent shipment of CCM rotor kits (converting from iron) to a GTS owner:

Front and rear CCM rotors are duly assembled. The kit will also come with SS brake lines and OE CCM brake pads.

An easy swap to OE iron rotors and save tons of unsprung weight to vastly improve your driving quality & literally dust free wheels, while keep your OE iron brakes as a spare.

Front rotor: 13.9 lbs (vs. OE's 31 lbs) Saves 17.1 lbs/rotor

Rear rotor: 9.2 lbs (vs. OE's 23 lbs) Saves 13.8 lbs/rotor

Total weight saving for four corners: 61.8 lbs
