Why did you chose to wait for W205 C63 over F80 M3

As title said why did you guys prefer to wait for the C63 and not get the M3? Please be specific as try to stay on topic.
I didn't want to ask or open such a thread in Bimmerpost because 99% of the answers will be "no manual no fun" or "because its heavy".

My parents currently bought Yas Marina Blue 2015 M3 fully loaded from dealership, while I really don't like BMW's new blue but the more I drive it the more I'm liking the car. The exhaust is something they have to improve but man that engine sound from speakers is just gorgeous.

Did you guys test drove M3? do you still prefer to wait for C63 after test drive?
This is the first time I drive M3 and it exceed my expectation to be honest. Paper says its 425/431 HP but from my experiences in automobile its more than just 431 BHP for sure.

1. BMW has insane interest rates here in Canada, plus their pricing is just plain ridiculous.
2. Exhaust sounds extremely weak in my opinion.
3. Interiors slightly weak in my opinion.
4. Performance wise the C63S has far more potential
5. Least important reasons. C63S has better fuel economy based off manufacturer ratings lol.

You can lease the car in the picture for 66% residual value in March. Depending on what other rebates you might have with BMW it can be a lot cheaper.

Personally I believe that BMW is doing that specifically to damage pre-release C63 sedan sales. Just like the Z4 73% residual (32 months) when the A3 convertible came around.

lol, Are you trolling?

j/k Once they announced that the M3/4 would be going back to a 6cyl engine I never even considered the M3/4 as an option for me.

1.My last two BMWs gave me a lot of problems.
2.I hated the N55. The S55 is a really modified version of it.
3.I wanted a V8.
4. I don't track my car. If i was more track focused I'd get it M to be honest. It still sounds horrible though.

Here are a few reasons why I'm waiting to drive a W205 C63:

1. I love my W204 C63. I drove every iteration of the E9X M3 and found the LCI W204 to be superior as a road car (better seats, gobs of torque, amazing engine/exhaust note, usable power band, etc.).

2. I've driven both the F80 M3 and F82 M4 several times. The F8X's S55 sounds much better in person than it does in videos but it still does not compare to the sounds a V8 motor makes.

3. Although the F8X's steering is precise, it is lacking in the feel department (not a lot of feedback/communication coming from the front wheels/tires). And despite the fact you can find an acceptable weight via one of the steering modes (C, S, S+), the electric steering still feels a bit artificial.

4. The rear end of the car is a little bland. If I go the F8X route, my first investments would be the M Performance diffuser and the M Performance exhaust.

5. The traction control intervenes a lot, especially when the roads are damp. Even in MDM (M Dynamic Mode), the TC flickers whenever you get on the throttle aggressively. This is only a minor issue though. In the hands of inexperienced drivers, I imagine that this car can be quite scary when pushing it. One of the most tail-happy M cars I've driven.

6. The W205 C63's interior is in a league of its own.

7. I like V8 motors.

1. I have a F10 M5 and love the power and sound from a V8

2. Test drove the M4 and love the look but the power left me a bit disappointed

3. Two of my friends are getting the M4 which adds to the lack of exclusivity of M3/4

4. Sound of the C63s

5. Interior of the C63s

6. I personally prefer the exterior styling of bmw but love MB as well. I have had an M for 3 years and now want to try an AMG. I figure I will have a solid idea of which I like better after that.

I was in a similar position about 2 years ago. Prior to acquiring my W204 C63, I was firmly in the BMW camp. Had M Sport 3ers, 5ers, 7ers, etc.

My second-to-last BMW was a lemon/dealer buyback. It would be quicker to list the things that didn't go wrong with that car. My dealer handled it very professionally though. Still, that experience is what led me to looking around.

Almost went with an E92 M3 but the LCI W204 C63 ticked every box for me. The sound, seats, and torque were among the deciding factors.

Since getting into the C63, I've been all Benz. In my experience, MB's customer service has been incredible.

V8 > I6. But honestly there is no wrong choice the m3 is the sportier choice while the Benz is faster and more luxurious. Same as all the past generations really.

I agree. There is no incorrect choice.

They both are "sporty" cars though. In terms of overall driving dynamics, the M division had a pretty sizable advantage prior to the W204 C63. Since then, the gap has closed as AMG has made its entire lineup sharper/more dynamic. Cars like the AMG GT S are setting incredible lap times.

Both the C63 and M3/M4 can handle track duty. It's just that the somewhat lighter F8X will shine on tighter tracks with lots of technical turns and hairpins.

The C63 will have an advantage on faster tracks with long straightaways and high-speed sweepers. That was certainly case with the previous generation of these competitors (the C63 was 4 seconds faster than the M3 around the 'ring).

Nurburgring (Nordschleife) Lap Times:

W204 C63 - 8:01

E9X M3 - 8:05

I didn't wait.

Even though I need four doors and should have considered the M3, I bought the M4. Like many others on the BMW forum, I didn't feel the power and I regret the purchase. Don't get me wrong because I know the power IS there but I don't feel its readily accessible as a daily driver. Perhaps I'm getting old(er) but I think the M cars are at their best on the track. I owed an E90 M3 and it was the same -- keep the revs at 8500 and it was a great car -- but not the best daily driver.

Between the two cars I had a 2012 550i Dinan Stage 2 and thought that car was a luxurious beast (505 hp/585 tq). Very drivable as a DD but had the power there when needed -- it was perhaps too silent for my taste. My hope is the C63S will give me that same feeling (Luxury, Power, Comfort) and add that emotional connection that I did not have in my 550i.

I understand exactly where you're coming from/what you're getting at. I have quite a bit of experience with the standard W205 (C300 4MATIC) and every time I drive that car, I think: "This is a C-Class? I can't believe how special this interior is." The luxury/comfort factor is definitely present in spades with the W205. I can't imagine how much nicer the W205 C63 will be, with its exclusive seats, steering wheel(s), leather choices, and trim options.

I had some Dinan-tuned cars as well. That warranty offered some nice peace of mind. I had a hairline crack on one of my Dinan high-capacity oil coolers. As soon as the crack was found, Dinan sent a brand new oil cooler system (next-day air) and covered 100% of the parts and labor (re-installation was performed at my local BMW dealer).

I've driven the M4 and liked it very much however it doesn't feel M3ish anymore.

M3/M4 - Great looking cars, Free maintenance, and Great transmission.
C63 S - V8, great exhaust sound, and great interior. (not many of us have driven the W205 C63)

I'm not gonna bore you to death as my complaints are the same as every other person who didn't buy the M3/M4.

I really wish that MB had the color options that BMW offers. I personally love Yas Marina Blue and I wish that the C63 came in something that's equally striking. The closest we get in the US is Lunar Blue. It's classy, but it's also available across the entire MB range and it looks pretty conservative.

I still can't believe that our color choices are limited to two whites, two blacks, two silvers, two grays, a dark blue, and a brown. Brilliant Blue with a nice brown interior would be my first choice, but we're not getting either of those options here in the US.

I think the M3 has good looks but besides the outdated interior and the awful exhaust sound there is also more room inside the new c class. The new c class has 2 more inches of rear leg room then it's predecessor. For those who have children like myself it is something that stands out. I am a big fan of the RS5 but there is no room in the back and no rear side-impact airbag.
In the area I live you see a 3 series BMW every 5 seconds and even though I like the exterior design of the M3 I believe they should have done more towards a "new" look. The new c'class interior, I sat in a c400, has so much more quality then its rivals. Since I will be taking the car on long trips I like the fact that I can just put everything in "comfort mode" and still enjoy its luxury but know that if and when I want it I can just turn the dial up.
When you start adding all those plus points Mercedes is the clear choice for me.
I just can't wait to hear the sound and feel the power in person.

I drove the M3 Sedan when I was at my AMG Expert Training. I felt that my 11 E92 M3 Coupe was a better car. Yes, the M3 Sedan was quicker due to turbos but it felt me not as excited. The DCT Trans is excellent however the MCT in the C63 is almost the near shift patterns.

2014 C63 AMG Edition 507
Driven the 507 sedan and coupe, M4 loaded, M3 various years

In terms of raw torque feeling - 507 > M4 > M3
And they 'feel' faster in that same order

Given the new C63 has been deliberately engineered for a liner torque curve - I'd imagine the torque delivery of the 2015 to be maybe ~20% more than a 507 across the rev range

With all the other M4 complaints, and the AMG engine being that much better - I think the choice is obvious

Go drive a 507 - I think that will be a good starting point for what a C63S might feel like. I don't think you will want to get into an M4 after that :P

I have driven various versions of W204 from stock to modified to 507.
The M3 is actually faster and I tested my friend's C63 that have mid pipe and canned tune vs our M3 on closed road and the C63 didn't have a chance, yes the M3 was that fast.

I don't know why you guys don't like the M3. its really fast and put smile on your face. I used to hate BMW especially the new line6 "M power" but after my parents got one I might actually sell my C63S spot and go for M3. As I mentioned its fully loaded so it comes with M suspension, M package etc and much more than I'm not familiar with so I'm not quiet sure if these options gave the M3 a push versus basic M3.

I think most people hear truly respect the M3 / M4 but just prefer the C63 / S over the BMW. Hell, I own an M4 and know the power of the car. However, for me its more of a track car where you can really enjoy the raw power. I've had several generations of M3s and know its capabilities but prefer to go with the C63S at this point. Its all about preference. BTW, I personally know of two individuals with their F8X on the other forum's "For Sale" board. They tell me the power is not really meeting their expectations, based on what they've driven before (1M and 550i Dinan S3). So........Its about personal preference. They're both great cars -- IMHO.

I think at this point you're a couple weeks away from the c63s hitting dealerships. You should test drive both to see which one you like more
