2013 C63 Coupe
My only comment would be color. If choice between Obsidian Black or Black, I've have/had both. I had a 2012 E350 Coupe in Black, and have currently a 2005 C230K in Obsidian Black. Side by side the C230K's paint is much deeper fuller. Also the imperfections such as swirls were more prominent with Obsidian Black. Consider the C230 is 10 years old that says a lot. I sold my E350 coupe a year later for a Polar White C63. All my new cars were always black, but as you said takes time to keep them looking their best. I love Polar White. It has a "European" white; hard to explain that feeling. I think it looks great on the W204 and current C63. Allows for tasteful contrast of carbon fiber bits... My 02 cents.

Great choice whatever you end up with, no doubt about that. Really can't go wrong?

2016 C63 AMG S
Thanks for all the replies. It has been helpful.

Got a ride in the C63S today. Great car. Doesn't have quite as much pull as my GT500, but that was to be expected. It still had enough to throw you back in your seat, which is what I want . One thing is that the full power seems much more accessible. The GT500 you always have to be worried it is about to kill you. It's hard to actually get at all 662 HP.

The sound was nice, particularly in Sport mode. I highly recommend the upgraded exhaust after having heard it.

Interior will be a nice upgrade from the GT500.

Unfortunately I didn't get to drive the car myself, but the guy taking me for a drive got it up to 124mph so I got a good feel.

Went back and told the dealership I want to be first in line for a 2016

They said I would get the first slot, so I should get it late August. Order banks open up in 2-4 weeks they were thinking, so I still have some time to tweak the builds.

Still unsure about the color. Seems like Obsidian Black is slightly better from the comments. However, the guy giving me the demo said that if I went with the Night Styling that would be in glossy black, and might look better with regular black. I'm still kinda leaning towards Obsidian after the comments here but... Thoughts based on the above comment?

@jesydney, car looks great. Wish you could tell us the formula

If anyone has any questions about my experience in the demo, let me know.

2016 C63 AMG S
Just put in my order for a 2016. Here is what I did:

Car Selection

AMG C63 S

Paint Selection

197 – Obsidian Black Metallic

Interior Selections

811 + 555 – Black Nappa Leather w/Grey Accents, AMG Performance Seats
Y04 – Silver Seat Belts

Interior Trim Selections

736 – Black Ash Open Pore

Wheel Selection

662 – 19” AMG Cross-Spoke Forged – Black

Packages

319pkg – Lighting Package
320pkg – Multimedia Package
389pkg – Hands Free Package
996pkg – Surround View Package

Stand Alone Options

P21 – Air Balance Package
234 – Blind Spot Assist
413 – Panorama Roof
463 – Head Up Display
540 – Power Rear Sunshade
U78 – AMG Performance Exhaust System

Decided ultimately not to go with Night Styling package, for two reasons. One, it is gloss black and I wasn't sure if it would clash at all with the Obsidian black. Second, I thought it might be a little bit too black (particularly with the black forged wheels and black leather interior) and that it might be nice to have some other color to break it up just a little bit.

Dealer said build in August with September delivery. This works out great for me as I get back from training the 20th of August (so wouldn't be able to get it before that anyway). Super excited!

Now the wait.....

Those 662 horses always puts a smile on your face, but it's also near impossible to enjoy all of them. Even on a track it is difficult unless it is a drag strip, and I've found that I don't like to do the drag strip a lot.

Also, while it's a near $70k car, it's still only a $30k mustang on the inside. Looking for something with a bit more refinement and luxury.

After reviewing several cars, decided on the C63 S. Came down to that and the M3 in the end. Part of the reason is the engine. Moving from a 662hp V8 to an I6 that has to augment engine noise with fake sound was a bit too much. The sound on the C63 S is great, and while sound might not seem that important, it was a deciding factor. I liked the additional HP, torque, and the interior.

Anyway, my local dealership said the run of 2015 ordering was over and that they'll take a 2016 order for an August build. This actually works out perfectly as I have to go away for some summer training (in the military) and will be back in August.

I know what options I want for the most part (can post my whole build if anyone is interested), but wanted to elicit some opinions before I order.

1. Black vs. Obsidian black. Hard to tell the difference from the pictures. I know black is harder to take care of, but it's the color I want. Just have to decide between the two. Anyone with any experience that can tell me anything about those two colors? When I go back to the dealership I'm going to see if they have two that I can see close by.

2. Performance exhaust option. I know that one of the settings is a quieter setting. However, if I pretty much never intend to use the quiet setting, will I get something out of this option? Is there a "louder" setting or a "better than the stock sound" setting?

3. Air purification system ($350 option). What is the deal with that? Something that is worth it?

4. I'm wanting the power rear sunshade, but what about the side shades? It doesn't appear on the configurator that they are powered... clip on?

5. This is outside of the build. Anything I should know about Mercedes-Benz in general? This will be my first. Had mostly ford with one BMW in there.

Thanks for any opinions/advice.

Did you drive or consider the BMW M3/M4? If not why not? If so, why did you pick the C63 AMG? Thanks

I did check out the BMW M3. It's a nice vehicle, no question about it. However, ultimately, stepping down from my monster 662 HP V8 in my Shelby to a 6 cylinder that they have to pump fake engine noise through the speakers was just too much. The car was fun to drive, but the "feeling" wasn't there.

Now, if I wasn't coming from a Shelby, engine sound might not be as much of a decision factor. But I am, so it was.

Has the 2016 pricing been out already? Is this the same as 2015's?

The 6.2L naturally aspirated V8 is a supercar engine that is widely, widely, praised. The new 4L twin turbo V8 is nice, but nowhere near as special as the M156 engine.

Test drive one before you pull the trigger on the new C63.

I just bought a 2015 507 coupe, and the reasons why I didn't go with the new C were:
- US and Canadian models are made in Alabama, not Germany. Something about an AMG that is not made in Germany didn't sit well with me.
- turbos - don't like them - more maintenance, slower to respond (there is ALWAYS some lag)
- sound - just doesn't sound as good as a W204
- interior - sure, it looks awesome in pictures, but it's NOT as good quality as the W204 C63. The quality of the materials, sound of the power seat motors, and the weight of the doors, just feels cheaper.

I'm not trying to bash the W205 - I just think that if you are coming from a Mustang, you are going to miss not having the best V8 you can have. And the M156 is it. Get it while you can.
The 507 C63 is very good, but not much better. I would rather have the new AMG C63 S than the C63 507 package. I built one and it's comes out to 86k when you can get a loaded AMG C63 S for 82k, and the looks of the new C63 is so much better than the coupe. I've seen the coupe and it doesn't look better than the c63 w205. The naturally aspirated sound of the w204 is amazing, but the w205 is just as good. Have you heard one in real life? Sounds so much better, videos on exhaust sounds also delete the beefy sound of the exhaust. Have to hear it in real life.

It's interesting that the C63 507 is priced so high in the US. It's much less in Canada, even without considering the exchange rate.
And when you factor in the much higher lease interest on the W205, and that there's less of a discount, my lease is about $200/month less for the 507.

I have driven the W205 AMG S on a track. It's amazing, indeed. Sounds great, doesn't feel like a turbo.

However, the 507 will be a collector's item, and I intend to store mine after driving it for a few years. The W205 AMG S will never have that.

And I do find the interior of the W204 better. It's not as pretty, but it's more solid.
Everything is more solid and seems to be built to a slightly higher standard, the doors, the seats...

Maintenance costs are also going to be considerably higher with the W205; plus there's the bugs and issues that haven't yet been sorted out.

But if you don't care about resale, maint. costs, where it's built, and need the 4 doors and slightly better fuel consumption, you can't go wrong with the W205!

Thats the reason I'm waiting till after senior year till I get the car. I don't want to get it while in high school and I would rather wait and see all the bugs and problems get fixed before I get it.

Did your dealer tell you the price for the c63s? My sales guy told me there is no pricing for the 2016 model yet.

There is pricing for individual options but not the base car yet.
