Probably not. Watch it again and keep your eyes on the headlight beam from the AMG. My guess is that he stayed within about a half-length of the M.

Interesting note I just found out that the M3 was a 6 speed manual, so perhaps a DCT M3/4 would fair a little better.

More from the same -
These guys are still hanging out and provided an autocross video on youtube. In my mind, the C63S wins as its naked and bone stock.
Car setups
M3 - JB4 Map 2, E85 (30% mixture), Haute AG Downpipes, Bridgestone RE71R Tires
C63s - Stock, CCB, Michelin Pilot Super Sport Tires

Interesting though that is the kind of test where the BMW is probably going to win because it's a handling test, no chance for the Merc to unleash the beast within.
Having said that considering the BMW is not stock, that was really close so I'm impressed. The Merc looked to handle itself well.
With regards to the earlier tests I've read that Mercedes torque limit the car in gears 1 - 3 because even when they do that it still has enough torque to break traction. However I wonder then if a change to 4th gives any noticeable surge or change. I'm not sure how much of a torque limit they apply.

Stock vs stock that's a real thumping...I would've expected to BMW to hold ground a lot better considering the instrumented 1/4 mile times they're running.
I don't think we have any proper instrumented 1/4 mile runs from the 205 C63's yet or do we ?? judging by that the C63S stock should be in the mid 11's...
