C&D has always been biased... Forget their #'s though pay closer attention to what BMW has been doing for years & years vs MB just starting to do w/their more elite models SLS/Black series & latest MB GT-S they use lighter superior DCT, w/superior hp/tq multiplying gearing IE C63 S is using 2.82 FD vs M3 using far far more aggressive 3.46 FD add that to a lower curb weight VS MB by some 330 + lbs it adds up to BMW easily edging the superior eng in MB

I am pretty sure that the 8.5 lb/hp for the M3 is based on the 425 HP that BMW prints on paper. BMW is notorious for sandbagging their figures. Just a FYI, a few dyno testing of the M3 (yes, I know dyno figures vary) have been reporting at around 485 HP (and around 450 TQ) so it makes more sense that the M3 is edging out the C63S and ATS-V in the 0-60 department.

Other than the M3 getting a slight hole shot, it is never ahead of the C63S and as speeds increase, the gap just gets wider (at least until the C63S gets on the brakes ;-).

You do realize that in the video the F80 M3 with the JB4 tune had it set at Map 0, which means OFF, right?

Yes, the C63S stomped the M3 in its "stock" form. Although I believe that M3 also has downpipes. The next video in that series shows the C63S slowly walking away from the same M3 when it was set up with Map 2. Thus, not only is the C63S faster than a stock M3, it is even faster than a reasonably tuned M3.

Until the magazine shows a side-by-side race between the cars, then yes, the videos definitely have more credibility. Note that one of the videos was produced by a mainstream magazine, just not one in the US.

You're defending the C63-S like Car & Driver just insulted your wife lol. And I wouldn't call a JB4 Map 2 piggyback to be "reasonably tuned" with just 40-HP gain.

there was a video posted recently of an M4 and C63S drag racing.. and they both posted atrocious times ... 13's.. neither could hook up....but I will admit the C63S still came out on top and continued to pull on the M4....
The BMW guys are loving this C&D article right now ... they are worshiping it and putting up on their shoulders and fanning it and throwing grapes at it... LOL

But seriously, if you look over at the BMW forum you will see a raging argument about just how much HP the JB4 Map2 + dps + some race gas or other octane booster really provide. 40 HP was about the lowest anyone considered. Others showed graphs suggesting more like 80 HP.
In any case, I am sad to see the C63S get dissed. However, I can console myself by remembering that this means I will just see lots more M3/4s on the streets while my C63S will be both faster accelerating and more exclusive ;-).

The rest of you blind fanbois, you can't believe every video posted on Youtube, you NEVER know 100% what was done to each car mod wise, & in ANY race the slightest jump even if not noticed on video or say slow or missed shift etc can rule/dictate the outcome of any match-up etc etc tho go on posting ALL the vids they are if anything entertaining
Apart from the lame non DCT trans & weak taller gearing, heavy curb weight etc.. I still actually favor the C63S anyday of the week etc... Superior in every other aspect design/styling powerplant etc..
