Fuel consumption

Some observations after the break-in period from +2000km summertrip

*Autobahn (Germany) 90 minutes continuous(night) driving in comfort mode between 160-180 km/h resulted 14,9 l/100 km.

*Another day in Autobahn, 100-130 km/h 60mins continuous driving in comfort-mode: 11,1 l/100km.

*30 minutes city-drivingin sport+: 20,9 l/100 km.

Does the sport exhaust flaps position (open/closed)influence fuel consumption? I think I observed difference in comfort-mode (flapsopen consume more – all other options remained unchanged)?

Not sure but my mixed town/some highway(mostly traffic lighted streets) averaged 13.4l/100km for 1500km(comfort/Sport mixed) total in 2 months.
Lowest recorded 9l/100km on highway non stop for about 20mins at approx. 110km/h

Not really - rather flat roads.

I have driven a long road trip recently in the W205 C63S.

The car has been previously broken in as per MB instructions to 1500 km (well almost as instructed :-) )and the diff oil was changed at 3300 km.

I had 3320 km when I started the road trip. Drove a total of 1400 km, non stop except for fuel stops over 12 hours period, varied terrain. Speeds were mostly 125 kph, short periods faster and many slower in traffic but not under 90 kph using 91 octane fuel in Comfort mode. Average speed calculated at 110kph

Fuel economy average as per vehicle computer calculations reads 8.9 L/100km

Very pleased with it.

City driving is another story of course.

PS: the car was used in an HPDE event for two days previous to the trip for a total of about 240 km on 94 octane, very fast speeds and revs. Sure broke in the engine by now. Very pleased with the car on the track.
