Are you referring to the separation in the seat? It has an adjustment feature for people with longer legs. You can extend or retract that part to give your legs more support. It's also on the passenger side. If that's not what you're referring to, then ignore me.

Mine looks exactly like that as well. Also I notice my driver seat backing is showing wear marks much faster that I anticipated. These cars should not have been built domestically, at least not at the price we are paying. USA quality...

Of course it didn't look like this when I purchased it just a couple weeks ago. Seems to wear quick, and I am far from overweight.

Here are some pics I took. As you can see the bottom of the seat is quite similar to yours. My passenger seat shows no wear though. For the back part of my seat you can tell the leather is stretching, much more noticeable in person though. I'm at 1200 miles and not overweight.

Agree this will help.... but surely we shouldn't be seeing that sort of wear a few weeks into the purchase. I have 2 tone leather sports seats in my Audi S4 currently and it shows about the same wear after 5 years as that is showing in those pics and I don't do anything special with my seats.

Read in previous thread somewhere though, that leather conditioners will help relax the leather and a heat gun used lightly will help to tighten up leather wear. I might not have the gonads to put a heat gun to my seats though. With my DIY skills I might set fire to the car!...

Yes, I have cleaned and conditioned twice already. It does help, just not as much as you would expect. There shouldn't be this type of wear a month into owning this car. My lexus' leather still looks great and has minimal wear. It's also much softer and supple that the mercs, and that car is at 30k miles already.

FYI...Anyone with a E1; your seats were made in Germany. It was stamped right on the seat and shipped to the US for assembly only.

This just looks like poor leather quality or leather install. I am not sure I would want to accept a new car with this type of finish.

That's good to hear, I guess the leather is to blame then. Let's see how it will hold up in the long run.

This ^^^^

Definitely should not look like that considering it's almost brand new that sort of visual wrinkling and wear is normally seen on much older well used seats ???

The drivers seat bolsters in my C204 don't have anywhere near the wear or pronounced wrinkle lines of those seats above and it's going on 3 and 1/2 years old with over 65,000km travelled distance of usage - IMHO something's definitely not right there how many other people are showing similar wear and tear on their new W205's seats ?

Correct me if I am wrong but we are talking just about the ED1 seats which are performance seats.
Is there anybody who is experiencing a similar issue with the standard seats?

My '13 BMW 650 had similar wrinkles straight out of the factory. I think this is a product of being a soft & thin leather. At 38kmi, I am having the driver's seat cover replaced under warranty for premature wear.

This may sound like crazy-talk, but I like/prefer how my W203 has MBTEX for the side and upper seat bolsters and genuine leather on the seat and back cushions.

Reason?

My car is 10 years old and my entire interior still looks like it left the factory back in June, 2005.

MBTEX is tough as nails, and because it's not genuine leather, it doesn't crack, crease, rip, stain, etc. in areas of the seat where creasing occurs.

It makes sense to have AMG's with some MBTEX in the seats as well, IMO.

It's funny you talk about MB Tex. I have plenty of clients that "love" the leather in our cars. On the test drive I go "Actually, it's not leather but we appreciate the compliment on our MB Tex." There face usually drops...LOLOL

MB Tex is seriously good, I love it! IMO, it really doesn't make sense to put leather on the side bolsters, that area of the seat gets the most wear and tear.
