Car delivered with sports seats when not selected

Went to pick up my cc63s today and was thoroughly disappointed when it had sports seats and not the performance seats when I had not deselected them, which some people do if they prefer the softer option. A stuff up by MB according to the dealer. I refused to take delivery and they are now looking into whether performance seats can be retrofitted. If not I am back in line again for a new car after waiting 5 months. Dealer said they had another car come with the sports seats as standard. I wonder whether the factory ran out of performance seats and decided to try to pass these off as the standard spec, if so that's not on. Anyone have a similar experience or know if performance seats can be retrofitted. I am in Australia.

ask the dealer for a build sheet for your car, seem unusual, in hindsight i did not specify mine either, and was delivered with the performance seats by default.

having said that does it "really" matter, perhaps squeeze some benefits out of the dealer / MB Au for the stuff up.

Yep checked and definitely not deselected.Performance seats are I think what makes it an AMG on the inside so they are important. Can't believe though that they thought I wouldn't notice the difference.

Well thats crappy...sorry man. Good thing is seats dont necessarily make the car what it is, maybe you can squeeze something out of the dealer for the mistake?

I'd walk away. Those seats make the car.

That really sucks. I agree, the main reason to get an AMG is because it opens up engines and options that you will never see on the standard MB models. I would put a serious squeeze on them, tell them to install the performance seats.

I work a MB store and have sat on both. I really love the style of the upgraded seat but after a while I feel it gets a little uncomfortable vs the regular sport seats. It definitely is a eye catcher though. If on your order sheet it is selected you can probably argue for something free or at least maybe discounted prepaid maintenance?

by all means, if you are set on the Perf. seats then insist on them or something else as a goodwill gesture for the mix up, however don't consider the sports seats as a downgrade as such, arguably they are a better option for everyday living.

Just my 2 cents, but I too would definitely want the performance seats if that's what I optioned for and therefore push the dealer to do something about it.

Agree with others IMO those seats add to the desirability of the car, speaking for myself even if they are less comfortable compared to the regular sport seat I'd still have them just for the added appeal

Thanks for all the replies . Impossible to retrofit so they have ordered me a new car, managed to get me a car going into production this week so hopefully 6 weeks away. Apparently they had another car delivered with same issue - I do wonder what's going on at the factiry

for my (wifes) C63S - Estate, I specifically ordered the performance (softer) seats. I already have the Sports seats in our A45 and although superior for a shorter, more enthusiastic drive they are not as comfortable (IMO) for daily driving in/out and long distance. each to their own though and I concur with the OP that if you ordered it on the car, you should get it.

Think he's referring to U.S folk and only with regards to the sedan, AMG's for everybody else including estate and coupe are supplied from Germany.

Sth. Africa for 205 series regular (non AMG) variants only for Australia

Besides the VIN, is there anyway to know what options actually ended up in a build? (Especially, prior to delivery?)

The VIN tells me that I have a rear cup holder, it also tells me that my steering wheel is "AMG Sport Leather/Dinamica Leather/Simulated Suede Steering Wheel w/Auto Tilt-Away." Seems odd that it doesn't mention something about the seat.

The head restraints line seems like an obvious place, but I am seeing conflicting results. Both of these vehicles have performance seats:
1. Fixed Front Head Restraints and Fixed Rear Head Restraints

2. Power Adjustable Front Head Restraints and Manual Adjustable Rear Head Restraints
These vehicles do not:
3. Manual Adjustable Front Head Restraints and Manual Adjustable Rear Head Restraints

4. Anti-Whiplash w/Tilt Front Head Restraints and Power w/Tilt Rear Head Restraints

5. Power (driver Only) Anti-Whiplash Adjustable Front Head Restraints and Manual Adjustable Rear Head Restraints

6. Power (driver Only) Anti-Whiplash Adjustable Front Head Restraints and Fixed Rear Head Restraints
It looks like the C63/C63S' with the AMG Performance Seats show up with the #2 above "Power Adjustable Front Head Restraints and Manual Adjustable Rear Head Restraints," and the ones without show up with #5 "Power (driver Only) Anti-Whiplash Adjustable Front Head Restraints and Manual Adjustable Rear Head Restraints" or #6. Does that sound correct, or are you guys seeing something different with your VINs?

I'm currently in the middle of a huge roadtrip, with 1000km 1 day stints, and the bucket seats in the GLA45 haven't given me any problems. Comfortable throughout the drive. My 7 month pregnant gf on the other hand...

C63, C300, C400 and C450 sedan are all built in Alabama for US market.

AMG engine is hand assembled in Germany and shipped to US / Alabama.

Initially, I thought I was going to choose the Recaro-built "performance" seats, which are very similar to the seats in my W204 (although the W204's seats have much deeper bolstering).

After seeing/experiencing the non-performance seats in person, it's a complete toss-up for me now. These things are gorgeous:

The Affalterbach crest on the headrest is extremely eye-catching. The color combination is stunning, too.

Plus, I absolutely adore the thigh extensions. Decisions, decisions.

I wish the performance seats had the Affalterbach crest. I have no idea why they didn't include that for at least the S-model.

Why are there 2 blank buttons near the light switches?

I think there is only one missing option from the "full" C-Class switch block, it's the surround view (360 camera):

I love the non-performance seats. Confortable, proper support, thigh extension is perfect.

Interesting to note that the couple of c63s for sale on carsales.com at ridiculous prices all appear to have sport seats and not performance seat. Makes me suspect that MB delivered all of first batch to Australia with the sports seats. I wonder whether the ones for sale are other customers refusing to take delivery.

Mine was the first estate (wagon) delivered in Australia and I got Performance seats (as ordered). and yes, the listings on carsales.com.au is ridiculous as I was offered a price from a dealer for much more than what I paid.
