Edition 1 or panoramic roof?

After multiple dialogues with my dealer, I finally made up my mind to go with a white Edition 1. Checkbook in hand and a light step I sat down to confirm all details one last time.

Keep in mind that this is in Japan, and my Japanese is limited... Anyway, I came to find out that the Edition1 can not be had with the panoramic roof in Japan. So, I asked for the regular s version with sport seats, but this is also a combination that is not offered locally.

So, I'm now stuck with the option of either going with an Edition 1, with great seats and interior, but without the panoramic roof.
Or a standard s version without sport seats, but with the panoramic roof.

Thoughts on which direction to go? I like the balance between sportiness and luxury of this car and think sport seats is a great fit. But I also like the panoramic roof in my current car, as it brings in light and makes the car feel a bit larger. It also makes the roof black, which makes the exterior top notch.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts. Cheers.

I have the E1 in the US where it includes the pano roof. I would have paid extra to avoid the pano roof on the otherwise excellent E1. It adds 150+ pounds (sorry 70+ kilos for those outside the US ;-) and adds another point of failure. The shade on my pano roof jammed and it took the dealer two days to get the replacement parts and fix it.

While I agree that the roof does admit some light, for me the additional weight in the worst possible place negates any advantage. Also, the performance seats are amazing. I have not tried the regular seats, but the performance seats are better than any car seat I have ever experienced.

Good luck with your choice.

Very good points, thank you.
I don't plan to race this car, so not too worried about the weight. That said, I'm allergic to interior creaking and vibration noises, which is something that's not easy to avoid with the sunroof.

Very cool. Where are you in Japan?

Be careful with the new car, the Yakuza may get jealous ;-)

Thanks - super excited!
Drove the M3 earlier in the day yesterday. Both great cars, but for me the AMG seemed a bit more adult and a better fit for me right now. Would love the M3 or GTS (which I also drove yesterday) as a weekend car, when the finances allow for for it.

I'm in the Tokyo area, doubt the Yakuza can keep up
