Issue with electric steering? Or is this how it is supposed to be?

I have reduced tyre pressures to 240 on the front and 220 at the rear, which is below the recommendation for the 19' wheels. It helped slightly but the problem is still noticeably there. I've got the car booked in at garage tomorrow to check the alignment as I feel the local Mercedes dealership isnt that interested in helping with the issue because they can't pick up the fault on a 5 minute test drive and the car wasn't bought from them.

That's terrible service! Let us know how get on. I still get it too, but not as bad. I reckon it's a camber thing. The front wheels seem to have quite a lot of it.

I've noticed some "self-correction" in the steering that I'd never experienced in a hydraulic setup. My guess is it's the cross-wind assist, which I believe is standard. I've had to retrain myself to "trust" the steering rather than correct myself based on feel. 3 months in, it now feels natural to me, but it was definitely an adjustment. Definitely not my favorite part of the car...

My experience is that there's some vagueness in C mode when doing quick steering movements. I recall reading a mag review where this was noted. But this seems to disappear in S or S+ mode. Tightens up.

I has the car checked and there's no problem with the wheel alignment. I guess that's just how it is, must be some software issue for the steering having a sticking point.

As I said in my previous post, mine was just the same, software update (don't ask me what it was) and it's now as near as damm it as good as the hydraulic set up.

Oh yeah, it's definitely some sort of dynamic software thing.

My 2016 c63s has been in the shop 3 times with this issue. Sticking when turning and clicking as well. The dealer is delivering the car tomorrow and we will see if it is fixed. Apparently, the sticking is caused by the electronic steering box and the clicking is caused by a plate behind the air bag and MBZ is now aware of the problem.

Hey guys, I’m having the same issue with my 15 63s sedan as well. Anybody got any luck resolving this issue? The dealer hasn’t been very helpful on this as they are not sure why it’s happening.

Clicking is normal when the cameras sense you're getting close to the staggered lines in the middle of highway lanes. I think all these symptoms are normal operation. I had a 2015 C63 S and now have a 2018 C63 S (both sedans). Have logged a lot of miles and they both act/behave the same.

The lane assist function would account for it....but many say they have this feature turned off. It sounds as if somehow, even in the off mode, it possibly re-engages.

Thats right. I have tried turning off every single thing I can, even tried turning off the ESC but to no avail. Not sure what’s causing the issue

In my experience and opinion - it's a nuance of the car and a combo of settings/modes. Take it to the dealer just in case and report back - for others. That is if you don't find or get an answer you're looking for here.

I have had this issue and I don't have distronic and its even worse if you have lowered the car and swapped the bushing Mine usually is good but it long turns its gets to a certain point and then seems to fall into the turn and you can definitely feel the difference in pressure on the wheel.....Drives me crazy ! I've had my alignment checked and made a few minor changes and it is a bit better but still its a uneasy feeling if you're at speed and the pressure builds up on the wheel

C63S AMG Coupe
Ironically, my wife made a comment last night when we were driving home on the Freeway and changing lanes in order to exit. She mentioned that the car seemed not as stable as my previous Audi. We both agreed that the handling was a bit more "squirely" and erratic. I have noticed that it's more difficult to keep in the lane and I don't have any of the lane assist features. My old Audi never veered.

Has anyone managed to resolve this issue? I have it on my 2019 coupe, so I'm surprised it hasn't been rectified if it's a known issue.

I have the same. The dealer thought it was down to wear on tyres, I have 2 free new front tyres and full alignment but still have vague steering.on the motorway at 55-75, its is weird. I am going to write to Mercedes in Germany, there must be a software fix, its so obvious that it must have been noticed.

Has anyone actually got it resolved?
I've just picked up my car yesterday and am very disappointed to have the issue and to know that it is common.

Was never resolved when I had the car. The steering in my little Audi S1 afterwards was a revelation by comparison!

Have the same issue with mine too. I do a lot of highway driving that also involves bad traffic here in NYC and the issue drives me nuts. Interesting that I didn't notice it in Europe (I did European Delivery). Makes me want to sell the car

Car's going back to the dealership shortly. They mentioned they will try to reset a few things.

It's essentially waiting for a car crash, litigation and then recall.

Yes, notice it on my car. Its most pronounced when at moderate speeds making a 90 degree turn. If I then leave my hands loose on the steering wheel after the turn expecting the car to self correct to a straight direction it wants to continue with the turn.

This is absolutely ruins the joy of driving the car. 2017 C43 didn’t have this issue. I think it’s specific to the C63 only
