Wheel weights???

Ok I'm really starting to learn this car and now that she's broken in (approx1100 miles) I want to line up a set of new wheels for the spring. The rear traction is pathetic with 265 out back. My new set of wheels must have function and performance first. In order to do so I'm researching wheel weights first.

19" oem split 5 spoke weight? (front & rear)
19" oem cross spoke forged? (front & rear)

Then compare to something like 19" hre ff01 flow forms for example.

I think a 255/35 19 up front and 285/30/19 out back??? My cls550 had that setup and I liked it a lot. Save some weight, increase strength, and of course look good.

I cannot give you specifics, but you will shave at least 3lbs per wheel going FF. But this could make your problem worse.

My E63 makes so much torque, that my forged monoblock wheels just kept spinning with my PSS. I switched back to low pressure cast, and gained my traction back... With PSS again.

If you run 285-30 in the back, this will help, however if you are hoping to run PSS, you'll have to settle for run flat as its the only option. If you don't lower your C63 too much, you'll be able to squeeze a 295-30-19 on there. (Depending on offset of your setup)

You can run 255 x 275 set up on the stock wheels... I'm planning this once the current tires need changing. Def needs more traction on the rear. The coupe comes with 285s in the rear as stock!

I can't see the lighter wider wheel sacrificing traction. Tire compound may have been the culprit in your traction issues. Anyone acutally weigh the wheels? For all th wheel vendors in this site I'm sure someone has these values --- please post them for reference.

I would have to agree with you here. Tire compound, more often than not, is the biggest factor when it comes to traction.

FF01's for the W205 in 19"x9" // 19"x9.5" weigh 25.4 pounds & 25.6 pounds respectively.

We are in the process of unmounting tires from the OEM forged set so that we could weigh them.

My guess is the OEM are lighter than the FF.

Thank you for the update!

Does anyone know if the multi-spoke wheels are the same weight? Apparently they are lighter forged wheels (my mb dealer)

This thread is going somewhere. We need the wheel weighs for the cross spoke forged next. Then maybe we make this a stickie and continue to add more wheel manufactures

Personally, I am strongly thinking about changing the wheels/tires in the spring. I would run a 255/285 setup x 19 x 9.5/10. The 265 at the rear is way to small.

You're pretty much on point with what we've found is the most aggressive setup that the W205 C63 can take.

I like the FF's for the price but I wish HRE had some more designs. I really would love a set of P101's or P104's in a brushed clear.

JPMBenz as the expert do you know if changing the wheels compromises the warranty in anyway?

I reckon the P104 will look great - esp concave

Anyone weight the forged 19" cross spoke oem wheels yet? Trying to keep this thread relevant and hopefully get others to weigh their aftermarket wheels.
