C63S 997.1 C2S
C63S vs 997 C2S

Happen to own both cars, so a short review:

The look
Porsche is more eye catching no matter which generation it belongs to, while the C63S might summon more trained eyes to appreciate, which means it is more subtle.

Adore the front of the C63S, but the rear is too mudane and varies little versus the other C-class. 997's rear is also too timid, but looks better than 996. 991 is really cool, especially 991.2.

The Interior
Well, no comparison here, C63S is hands down in all aspects. After all, it is almost 10 years apart in term of technological advancement. Same level of interior rattles, when the car is collected brand new, both needs time to blend-in, I hope...

The audio
Engine sound, C63S is obvously more outspoken, while the flat six in the 997 is always sounded a little bit lazy (the same to my preivous Subaru WRX Sti). When you rev both cars, they are just as adrenaline-pumping, and the Merc rev faster and reached a certain speed faster as there is more power and torque to it.
I have the Bermeister options in the Mercedes which I find the high pitch are really sweet, but bass lack the reasonable punch at normal settings. While in the Porsche, despite the lesser filtered engine noise, the audio is more in your face and really more sporty. I guess this is the manufacturers' positioning.

The feel behind the steering wheel
Well, despite it's a decade-old technology, the steering feel of the 997 is so precise and leaning to heavy weighted, that provided the road information to the driver. C63S steering is light, and will sudden gained weight in the middle of a corner, a bit unnatural, and in general it's too feather light. Feedback is lagged and let's blame the omission of the hydraulic system. Ride on the other hand is exceptionally comfortable in C mode of the Merc, I experienced the Sport mode, which is pretty close to the ride feel of 997. Comfort mode is really more suitable for city traffic amid the road condition in this part of the world. RR has it advantage here, as I found it is more easier to have a lose rear end in the Merc than in the 997, I have the Dunlop Maxx RT MO1 which I guess is really inferior to the Michelin PSS on the 997 barring the difference in engine position (FR vs RR) and size (265 vs 305).

Enjoy both cars, really different characters and commands different mentality when driving them. Will post more comment later, cheers all.

I've got a C4S with a Single Turbo and straight exhaust. Sounds incredible.

The two are apples and oranges, but you definitely get way more attention in a 911. Its always been an aspirational achievement for the masses.

You get a Porsche and you made it...and people notice.

No offense as I adore both cars, as you said, I am comparing apple to orange, just that I need a proper sedan as kids no longer fit in the back, and looking to share some thoughts.

I am really itching for another Porsche in my life. Thinking Cayman GT4 (Long gearing is a big detractor) and keeping the C63 or maybe GT3. GT3 prices are so close to Mclaren 600LT (Already owned 570s)..... And there's my deilema., I can't make up my mind.

As nice as the C63 is, it just cannot compete with a proper sports car. At least not on feel and performance. And performance is not necessarily straight line speed.
