How many people are disappointed with build quality and the rattles?

1 month old C63S with 567 miles:

1.) So far fussy start-stop: I turn it off as its annoying.
2.) Transmission in Comfort is vague and cranky. Feels like its always lugging the engine and when I want to go smash the trottle its wait , wait , then slam here we go. I like to have it in Sports+ but that doesn't work well in multi-story garage at work either... urgh. I can live with it though.
3.) 3 "Low oil Add a quart" warnings with only 500 miles. Urgh!!!
4.) Weird rear diff lock and dragging feeling while going up a multi-story garage.
5.) Suspension a little hash

So far love the car. Nothing that much worse than most other new cars. Only real worry is if these things are addicted to oil. This is my first Benz so

Wipers seem to be an issue.

I figured they are a cheap item to replace with better ones. I noticed the rattle and skip around unless you are constantly spraying the windshield. Ridiculous to me it appears manufacturers in the premium category seem to skimp on items like these. My 2014 Range Rover that was $114K had horrible wipers too. Anyway it turned out to be a lemon with rattles everywhere and faulty suspension they were unable to fix leading to a buy back with barely 6500 miles after 10 months of hell. It was replaced with a flawless revised 2016.5 Range Rover Sport Autobiography. What do you know? Wipers sucked as well. I just went after market replaced them with much better ones that are quiet and dont miss large portions of the windshield. two front and a rear and they under $100 total.

I got this car and two weeks in drove in pouring rain. I couldn't see through it. It also didn't seem to matter what speed I used the wipers are simply not effective and skip around like a ratchet and also miss portions under the blades that the rubber doesn't seem to contact. Anyone know a good replacement?

At 12,000 miles my pan roof wouldn't close. I think they replaced the runners and motors. No other real problems other than killing rear tyres by driving with the traction control switched off.

for the "add 1L engine oil" message, i receive that error message from time to time. dealer said the engine oil level is fine...

while in race mode on the track, when the car is going from 3rd gear to 4th. the transmission is not very smooth...is this normal?

Now both my front and rear led at the driver side are on all the time.

Anyone can suggest a quick fix? Don't really want to go back to the dealer for this.

Rattling / Clicking Sound during Acceleration and Gearshifts

I get a rattling/clicking sound which frequency increases as I am quickly accelerating. That rattling sound does seem louder at higher RPM (beyond 3-4k) especially during up/downshifting. Only happens when I am driving with the sport exhaust mode on (valve opened). When I have the exhaust mode on comfort mode (valve closed) or when I am revving on parking/neutral gear, the rattling sound does not occur. Anyone else?

Dealer said it was a normal sound but I was still unconvinced. After visiting forums and other threads, here are my leads:

- Defective butterfly flaps in the exhaust
- Valve knocking
- Normal sound for a direct injection car (fuel injector pump noise): need to insulate fuel pump lines from the high pressure pump and the purge valves(resonating against the body of the car).
- Clatter from insulation/heat shields in the engine bay and exhaust manifold area (vibration at certain frequencies and RPMs): need to tighten up the areas and make sure nothing is touching

Update on low oil message.

So the dealer checked the oil and topped off with half a quart at 678 miles. I just got to 1600 miles and message has not come back so it was indeed low oil. But at am still bothered that a new car at only 500 miles low oil needed a top off? My tuned BMW with twice the stock boost never seemed to use any oil at all and traded it with 52K miles on the clock. I never topped it once all that time. I changed oil at 5K or 6K intervals not the recommended 15K miles because I had an aggressive tune. Am new to AMG, so I don't know if these beats are addicted to oil.

guys, the rattling/squeeking noise and the wind passing noise are the most common, imo.

also, like many others, I sometimes get the low oil level warning but it seems to disappear after I turn off the car.

Yes I had it as many others and when I check with dip stick it is full.

So 2556 miles. I have had engine coolant low warning got it topped off and now I had my 4th low oil warning but its full. Going in Monday to fix a 20-inch gouge in the front wheel the wife put on it when she rammed a curb in Washington DC trying to get out of the way of an aggressive driver behind her. I am disappointed even after telling her so many times you are driving a very powerful machine just use your right foot to get out of trouble in traffic. And if you have to stop you have giant brakes buts use them the car stops on a dime. Still it doesn't register and she drives like grandma. Actually hogging the lane and just ignore him works better. Why get out of the way when you have the right of way?

Window rattles, nav screen rattles, creaking coming from behind dash. Weird hesitation when motor downshifts from 3rd to 2nd in Comfort when slowing down during a turn and then accelerating out of it. This is one is rare but from time to time the brakes grab repeatedly at low speed like the ABS is kicking in. I'll lightly apply the brake and it'll feel like I'm pumping the pedal. Dealer has attempted to fix the rattles with little to no success and the other stuff they have no idea about and of course they couldn't replicate them.

Very poor for an auto
I have the exact same problem. Also had a similar issue with my old ML320 so I thought that just how MB transmissions were.

1. now currently at the dealer for 4 days having the third exterior trim piece that has fallen off replaced.
2. experienced the low oil message the night after completing service A.
3. After a small amount of spirited driving car cut power and felt like about a quarter of the power turned car off then on and was back to normal. Anyone else experienced this?

Oil warning is common and you should always check dip stick as most of time it is not low.
Power low might be a turbo waste gate hose that is on a TSB that gets pinched and mine had this problem and they did replacement of hose with new design and it has not happened since.
If this happens look at the turbo boost on display in front of steering wheel and you will see no boost.

Hey AMG_Eric, I've had the same issue on both front windows and got it fixed by the dealership. It is due to the rubber window seal rattling or rubbing against another surface. The solution seems to be either to replace it or lubricate it.

Hope this helps.

Correct. There is a TSB I believe that says for the tech to lubricate it. They did it to mine and it helped but it still rattles when going over bumps. It's going back in to the dealer next week for this and because they did not address the worst rattle I have coming from the dash. They claimed to have fix it but it was not any better at all when I picked the car up. Definitely frustrating I have to bring it in for a second time for the same issues.

Update with the oil issue. It is indeed using a lot of oil and needs topping off every 750-1000 miles. Dealer had Mercedes send me some explanation. They said keep an eye on it, and if it doesn't improve by astound 6,000 miles they'll do an oil consumption test and rectify. They said it's not that unusual to burn more than usual amounts of oil during the first 6000 miles break in period for this motor. Let's see.

Otherwise car has been lovely with exception of rather soft windshield glass.

I'm at about 8000 miles and NO oil use at all.
