Tell me about it... if we were able to spec the dynamic LED's alone for $800 like the sedan, we'd save $4750. And if the panorama roof wasn't standard, that would be another $1480 saved.

It's very frustrating that people who don't want the driving assist aides or a pano roof will need to spend $6230 just to get dynamic LED's and options they don't/won't use! I surely don't need semi-autonomous driving in a C63, and I'd much rather save 80-100lbs off the top of the car, than have the sun beat down on my head with the pano roof.

Maybe the next model year will have a more flexible package, but MBUSA really bundled every single option into P03, leaving little to no choice but to opt for it.

I am deferring ordering based on the packages.

Is it safe to expect MB will unbundle some options around end of MY2017?

Probably wishful thinking, but I wonder if they added the Ventilated seats into the P03? That would explain the $450 markup and would make sense considering it pretty much encompasses a "fully loaded" vehicle less the vanity upgrades like carbon fiber interior/exterior, performance seats/parts, etc.

Unlikely given that my spec has the performance seats, and when you add them, there is no decrease in price despite the fact that you can't even get ventilated seats with the performance seats.

Are the Performance Seats heated? I can't remember.

This.

If you have some free time go onto the 911 configurator. It is just obnoxious at how much they want for every single piece of trim or option. You'll feel better then....

Yes, heated is standard with them, but ventilation is not available.

Appreciate the response. Looks like we are all donating an additional $450 to MB if we want anything associated with their ridiculous P03 package.

Well, now I know that I will be negotiating an additional $500 off MSRP on top of my 5% ED discount.

It's frustrating, but it's definitely not stopping me from ordering - that's for sure! Plus, who's to say that the next model year(s) will be anymore flexible with options. Just not worth the wait at this point.

Most of the normal options people would want in an AMG or Mcar costs don't cost too much more on a 911.

That said, 18-way seats on my 991 cost me $3800+ which was ridiculous
I did a Porsche factory tour in Stuttgart in March. Amazing place, the tour is quite in depth and allows you to get very close to the manufacturing areas in some places. Well worth a visit. There is only one robot on the entire production line which puts windscreens in. Everything else is done by hand. The tour guide talked quite a bit about the fact that Porsche pride themselves in providing lots of custom options so that their customers can make their car pretty unique if they choose.

Well said and I agree. I would rather have bespoke options and not pay for a full package. And I didn't find Porsche options to be a lot more than MB for equivalent items.

I don't want to pay almost $6,000 just to get the Lighting Package.

To me, the Lighting pkg is an aesthetic one, not the safety option that MB deems it to be as it is optioned with all those safety features I don't want.

In fact, packages gives deciding power to the manufacturer and takes it away from the consumer. Manufacturers will try to extract as much money as they can get using these methods because us customers don't have a choice.....with a la carte, we do.

Not saying going bespoke is cheaper, but spending a bunch of money on packaged options I don't want makes me feel ripped off.

Regardless...pros and cons....pros and cons
