Is this normal? Dealer in US asking for $15-20K markup over MSRP for c63s coupe
I just went to a dealer to put an order on a 2017 c63s coupe. The sales rep went through the build with me and then told me these cars are rare and with huge demand, so they have a $15-20K markup over MSRP. When I told them I know people who've gotten a couple of percent off MSRP they told me those people are liars and that there's no way that's true.
Is this normal? I felt scammed. I really want this car but there's no way I'm paying over MSRP for it.

act like you're going to buy and take that quote and biz card and email to Mbusa
it would be nice if you could also include info and a quote from a reasonable dealer selling at msrp or lower

I told them there was no way I would spend more than MSRP for the car and they said "well, thank you for your time" and basically walked me out of the dealer. Super bizarre first experience with a MB dealer. Might look elsewhere after this :/.

It's amazing that dealers are still doing this stuff, now that most people can internet shop or use soemthing like truecar There are a few dealers around here that try to pull that. Sad thing is some people will pay. A guy was bragging about his hellcat he "paid a premium for" since it was exclusive.
You should check around for sure. What area are you from? There are some good guys on this forum that can prob help you solidify a deal if you are serious about ordering one

I have been following this forum since I became interested in the car. Made the account last night once I finally decided to order. I do understand this coming out of the left field might sound fishy. That's ok.

Don't feel bad, some users are just more critical than others. Sometimes you'll appreciate it, other times, not so much. A little bit of scepticism doesn't hurt. Anyways, I would call other dealers in your area and provide them with an offer which you deem reasonable. Also, get that quote from the first dealer and send it to MBUSA. Nobody should be treated that way.

Lol... I'm getting 7-8% off my C63 S Coupe with ED and a few additional discounts. Find a new dealership immediately, if that's how they're going to treat you during the buying process, just imagine the service you'll receive from a stealership like that.

May I ask what state or area are you in? I'm in Northern California, in the SF Bay Area. I wonder if that makes any difference at all. Pardon my ignorance but it's the first time I attempt to buy a car like this.

Anyway, you may want to try some dealerships in SoCal if you're willing to go a bit south. I have an order on a C63 and I spoke with several dealerships from Newport Beach to San Diego during my search. All of them treated me with respect and were very professional. Good luck in your search!

About 1 1/2 years ago when I ordered my sedan one dealer quoted me $12k over MSRP --I laughed at him and walked. Most dealers were at MSRP but I went to a close dealer and made a discount offer and they accepted.
No one needs to pay over MSRP so keep looking.

this is teh same crap that was happening earlier in the year with the M2 .
the C63 i don't think shoudl be nearly as low production and allocation. I know some dealer groups (like sonic) don't even allow any charging over msrp as a policy. so maybe look for one of those
