Finally, had some dry days here to test out the sound.

On kick down, just WOW. This thing is so much louder now.

Even on comfort with exhaust open... After 2k kick down it screams, people look around to see what car it is haha....

Needless to say - still no regrets lol

Actually one, wish I had done it off the bat.

Sanch, you have sold me on this. A couple of questions:
Did you get the cats gutted or did you replace them with a straight pipe?
Can you confirm again that in comfort mode with valves closed, its the same volume as OEM?
Cold start in my garage with stock exhausts in comfort mode already wakes the family. Is it safe to assume that the cat delete will make this even worse?

I think he did the 2nd cat delete since this wouldn't cause a CEL. The volume will go up but the rear mufflers' valves will still do their job and keep the volume down when closed.

Too Many To List
It's going to have more resonance, not so much a deep throaty sound. I would suggest pull the resonator(s) and put on an exhaust to define the sound.

This car does not have resonators. AMG performance exhaust is quite good, the only thing better would be a track exhaust.

I've asked around at shops in Dallas/Richardson and apparently it's illegal to cut out the cats. So no ones willing to do it.

Call B&B Muffler in Carrollton. I've had a couple of buddies who have had success there in the past. You are only removing the secondaries, not primaries. But still, I understand the exhaust shops' concerns.

Yeah, I've asked a couple of the muffler shops in Fort Worth and they won't do it... They says the penalty is $2500 for each cat that hits the ground. There is a speed shop down here though, I may be able to get them to do it, but I'd really like to hear the sound in person -- any of you Dallas or Fort Worth guys do this mod yet?

Have you not been tempted to cut the perf exhaust muffler open and wrap the loud pipe so it's a straight-through track pipe?

Vic,

Did you get this done on Saturday? What are your thoughts being that you have removed resonators on other AMGs?

Curious if this is really worth it, I am taking my car in Friday so a shop can look into what its going to take to remove the secondary cats. Initial impression from shop said they have done it on other makes and models and it really didn't add much in the way of sound to the system. Also can we not have the car in a garage when making videos of exhaust in the future LOL. If my car sounded like it does in a garage out on normal roads I would never need to change it.

Nope, the perf exhaust is perfect. I wouldn't touch it.

15-20% increase in sound will not be that noticeable in videos. However when you drive/ down shift/ rev it in neutral like a goon... you will def notice it.

Just did it yesterday and sounds mean! Worth it if you're not wanting to drop 3k+ on a tune catless downpipe

There's growing body of forum members who had this relatively inexpensive mod done. Myself, Sanch, Alex98, Ugotmopped, AMG 17GT, kuba.95. Not sure if I'm missing others. We all have only glowing positive reviews. Take the leap of faith and you will love it.

Both my C63S and GTS are stock with the performance exhaust--- the level of sound is very close with the GTS slightly louder due to shorter distance piping. I would guess with the second cat pull on a C63S would push that car much closer to the OEM sound of the GTS with the exhaust flaps wide open.

Edit, my GTS is tuned and Weistec was able to tweak the software for more overrun and battleship pops but stock its still louder.
