Is it fuel injected? My Ducati doesn’t need this kind of warm-up period before riding. I just let it idle for about as long as it takes me to put on my helmet and gloves and I’m off.

As a fellow Ducati rider, you need to give it a couple of minutes to allow the oil to warm up so that the damn clutch doesnt ****** as much! This is for wet clutch models (not those rattly dry ones), but if its cold the clutch can be so snatchy that its easy to stall! That couple of minutes to put your gear on makes all of the difference! I suspect its similar with other bikes though.
