The one I use for wheels and brakes is significantly smaller than the others. First I'll wash the wheels, hose them off, and then go back and do the calipers separately. I'd say half the time I can't reach all the caliper though because the wheel spokes get in the way.
The trick though is that even if you can't reach the entire caliper, the adjacent washing and hose spray takes off a significant amount of brake dust from those unreachable spots. Yeah, it's not clean looking, but most of it will have already washed off.
When I apply tire dressing after the wash is done, it's next to impossible to apply it on the tire shoulder on the bottom near the ground. What I'll do it move the car forward/back enough for half a wheel revolution so that part of the tire is now facing up. The vast majority of the time when you do this, the areas of the caliper you couldn't get to are now unobstructed. I have a grungy trying towel I'll use for door jams and under the hood, and I just use that to wipe away any remaining grime on the caliper.
I hope that all made sense.....
