How long does it take to custom order a C63S?
How long does it take to custom order a fully loaded C63S? Basically everything except the performance seats. From the day I put in the order until the day I can pick it up.
Can any of you who ordered a C63S share some experience? Build time? Shipping?
Thanks guys!

Depends on when you can get a build allocation. It also depends on East coast or West Coast.
My build was scheduled for the first decade (10 days) of February 2017.
Mine was built on Feb 16, 2017.
It was on the ship on Feb 28, 2017.
It arrived in Long Beach on April 9, 2017.
I picked it up from the dealer in So Cal on April 14, 2017

Thank you for your reply!!!!
When you say "built" you mean finished building? As in you ordered it some time last year and the factory finished building it on Feb 16? Or did you mean "built on mbusa" as in actually ordered on Feb 16? So it's either 2 months of shipping+delivery or 2 months total. Which case is it?
I live in central PA. Consider me east coast.

Built would mean the day the engine is actually manufactured. I placed my order in November for an April 1st build date and the car arrived at a surprisingly quick time, April 12. How that happened I don't know but I'm not complaining

4 months!? It takes that long? oh man I hate it that most cars on the lot have so many useless features and none of the ones we actually need. It's like they are pushing us to custom order. Like who the heck need the performance seats on a daily basis?

If your dealer is part of a larger dealer network (eg Autonation, etc), they can check with other dealers in their network who have a build already in queue, but not for a customer (eg a car the dealership ordered to sell on their lot). If they haven't started building that car yet, the dealers can often swap spots, so your build goes in based on the other dealer's earlier request, and visa versa. I did that with my GLE63S, which was slated for several months, and I got it within weeks.

There was a build freeze for the new '18 year. I put my deposit down in March, dealer put official order on 4/20, and my build will start in September with an August deliver.

You did not say if you are ordering a sedan or coupe.
Sedan is made in USA (Alabama) and coupe in Germany so that extends the time.
It also depends on when the dealer has a allocation(build slot) that he will give you. If he does not have one and you order it is not really ordered till he gets an allocation so that is the key.
I ordered a sedan late June and it was built on Aug 20 and I had it in CA on Sept. 5th.
If sedan on East coast it could be sooner. Don't let dealer mess with you as if he really has a allocation for you he can give you a print out of order number and it should be close to date he says. Sometimes it gets delayed for a item out of supply but not often. All engines are built in Germany so date engine is built is not date car is built.
Once a coupe is built it goes to port and waits for ship it is assigned to and then goes to USA. At port it gets port added items and is assigned to truck and to dealer and they do a PDI and it is yours.

Last year we ordered our 2017 C63S sedan about this time, and ultimately got a build slot for August. It showed transported to Long Beach, but was held by Mercedes corporate held the release until early October.
Several weeks ago, I placed an order for a 2018 C63S cabriolet. Took several weeks for the dealer to secure the build slot due to 2018 order window. Build slot is early September, with estimated delivery in late November. Not sure if the dealer is trying to set a low expectation for delivery timing based on our experience last year, or if they have additional info on expected release date.
May be differences between sedan, coupe, and cabriolet builds. Option packages have changed. May be best to visit a dealer and see what they can do for you. Or have them look for a 2017 configuration in inventory in country that they can get for you.
Good luck. Jeff

Removed the word "port" from my above post. Our transportation update at the time had it being held in Long Beach. Perhaps shipped from Alabama and held at the Mercedes Long Beach holding facility, until official release. Fixed my post above.

Yes they can hold for for a release date or a problem. Mine went on a train to CA and depending on location-- a truck or train.
