Magno (Matte) Paint owners - How did you get black emblems?

hi there,
question for anyone with a factory magno/matte paint.
if you had your trunk emblems (star, model designation, etc) blacked out, how did you do it?

A popular method seems to be the plastidip route, where you don't even have to remove the emblems and can spray the plastidip directly on the car and peel it off leaving behind a black emblem. But I am not sure if this method works the same on a magno paint (as opposed to glossy paint)?

Second method seems to be having someone take the emblems off and painting them properly and reapplying ... although I wonder how they ensure the emblems go back on perfectly aligned? It would drive me crazy if it wasnt a perfect factory alignment.

Third method/option would be to simply shave your emblems off ... when i used to do this with previous cars we would just take fishing line/dental floss and 'shave' them off, and use Goo Gone on any remaining adhesive residue ... but again, I wonder if you can do this on a magno paint? (or is the Goo Gone too abrasive?)

Thanks for any input.

For the best results. Buy Black badges (or OEM Chrome badges and paint them), then use painters tape to mark the exact location - remove and replace.

I would be very careful removing them as I don't have experience with matte paintwork and you usually have to buff the area after removal.

Plastidip is okay - but looks dull and cheap compared to a proper finish.

Good advice on using painters tape to mark where the emblem is, don't forgot to mark 1 side of it as well so you get the new one in the correct spot both vertical and horizontal

Normally I would recommend using a blow dryer or heat gun on the emblem and remove with a plastic spatula, or go real professional and use plastic razor blades...

then goo gone to clean the area if needed, followed by good old dawn soap mixture to remove any wax....

but on matte paint, not sure how it will react to goo gone....

I use non-ammonia window cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean Harley's with matt paint.... maybe that will be enough ?

Isopropanol is your new friend for cleaning up marks on matte. Nanolex do a product called EX which is a isopropanol based cleaner for removing grease and adhesives from your matte paint leaving the paint clean for sealant / graphics / badges.

Just dont use too much in enclosed spaces or it will end up a very good friend, until you pass out...
