Launch control trick i leaned tonight.

Launch control trick i learned tonight.
so i noticed that when using launch control my car launched quite well and with no wheel spin and i thought that it was due to my r888rs in the rear. the only problem was that it never left really hard and thats because it has traction mangement on to aid the launch.
What i learned if you turn on launch control put your foot to the floor and quickly pull it up halfway and put it back to the floor it turns off launch control and lets you launch at 3k enough for the turbos to be fully ready i spun in first and second with 295/30-19 r888rs in the rear at 25psi. useless on the streets but maybe very helpful at launching hard at the track.

Are your results different than simply turning of the stability and traction control (holding down the traction control button for several seconds) before using launch control?

I found I was able to get a pretty damn good launch by using race start with traction control off and by releasing the brake about half way down on the gas. Did this on OEM rubber at full pressure and got a great start.

I’ll have to try that. I normally put the car in race, set traction control to “sport” and drop the hammer. I recently found that manual mode evidently provides an additional throttle map? Someone correct me if I’m wrong. When I use race start in conjunction with manual mode, i don’t touch the paddles and it shifts for me. Doing this felt like a totally different car. It’s a freaking rocket and pulled like a freight train. The shifts were scary fast and it literally felt like it was “banging” gears. Not in the bad sense, but just firing off hard shifts.

Yes when i launch with launch control active and traction control off i get close to zero wheel spin vs when i launched last night with traction control off i spun all the way through first and second.

Right?! It was a total brain fart moment the first time it happened. The launch was so brutal I simply forgot to shift and then bam... Redlined and the car blasted the next gear. Everyone needs to try this. It’s insanity.

Also have you tried it turning off stability/traction control completely instead of sport?

Thank me later.
Also, anyone that does this please pay attention to the shifts and their intensity and report back. Mine shifts pretty damn hard.

apologies if my method wasn’t clear. I DO use race start. My setup is: dynamic mode-race, suspension- sport, traction control - race defaults it to “sport” which is what I stayed with and lastly, Manual mode-ON. engage launch control, hang on and DO NOT SHIFT VIA PADDLES. (Yes I know manual mode is on but do not touch paddles).
Thank me later.

if you go into race mode without hitting the manual shift button it will only shift at redline and will downshift for you. if you hit the manual shift button in the middle it will let you sit at the rev limiter. i have done it before not knowing i hit the button and launched the car

Lol. It absolutely does NOT shift by itself in Manual mode during Launch Control.
Don’t know why I was foolish enough to try this. All it accomplishes is a fuel cut and bouncing off the redline.

i think he got confused with race mode and manual mode. while you are in race mode it seems like it wont shift for you but it will shift at and only at redline while manual mode activated by the button shown will not shift for you.

Agreed, but not sure how you confuse the two. One is a dedicated button with an M on it lol

Good thing I didn't try this on my car haha. Either this is a joke, or OP really had no idea what's going on. Doesn't make sense that it would shift in Manual mode LOL... Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Manual mode is engaged and the car will shift itself if you use race start. I tried it again in sport plus and it worked. Attached the video and you can clearly see the “M” for Manual mode illuminated. Just for ****s I tried it in sport plus W/ MANUAL ON and it still banged through gears. The weird part is something is missing.... anyone notice the lack of the “shift up” graphic? Like I said, it fires off some insanely fast shifts for you with zero delay. Almost feels like the car is power shifting as each shift throws you back in the seat. It’s wild. (Holding my phone in my right hand as it would be impossible for me to downshift without having to swap the phone to my right)

Ok someone else give it a go. Thinking something is...unique with your car.

My car feels.... Fast. Really friggin fast based upon cars I’ve raced and won against (P90D w/ludicrous mode on, new charger hellcat, Z06). I purchased it new in January of 17’ and never had it tuned or dealt with the exhaust sound update. I just left it go and enjoyed.

Anyone else tried it? Wish someone in the area had a dyno so I could get quantifiable data on my car.

There’s a blurb in the manual under Race Start that sounds potentially related but I don’t understand what it’s saying:
”When Manual mode is active, the transmission automatically shifts up to Race Start in the drive program. This function supports maximum acceleration with Race Start. After going through an accelerating process once from a stationary position, this function is automatically deactivated.”
”When Manual mode is active, the transmission automatically shifts up to Race Start in the drive program. This function supports maximum acceleration with Race Start. After going through an accelerating process once from a stationary position, this function is automatically deactivated.”

Just FYI that came from the 2016 owner’s manual that I have for my 2016.
