Mercedes Dealer Xpel Wrap
Hello,
I took delivery of my 2018 c63s coupe and I was wondering if anyone could give me some insight on the Xpel wrap that my MB dealer is offering. They are willing to do the front bumper and back bumper for around 800$ and I asked them to give me a quote me on xpel wrapping the whole car. Anyone know the quality of the xpel they are offering? I was under the impression that Xpel is a crap ton of money and the prices they are offering right now aren't outrageous. So I was thinking maybe I am getting a lower quality Xpel wrap? Then again I did rage at them so maybe they are giving me a fair offer for once.

After a soccer mom's kids decided to swing open their SUV door wide open, smacking my Xpel Stealth wrapped C63S' passenger door near the mirror.. and finding ZERO damage, I'd say the premium you pay is worth it.

I paid $1895 for XPEL Ultimate full front (full hood, front fenders, front bumper, backs of side mirrors) minus 10% discount for repeat business since I've had the same shop do my last few cars. I don't know if it's the cheapest but they do an amazing job (you can't even really tell it's there unless you know to look for wrapped edges) and finding a good installer is by far the most important part in my opinion.
On the C63S I also had them install XPEL Prime ceramic tint and so far I'm liking it. I was a little nervous as I couldn't find a ton of reviews for it, but like I said, I trust the shop.

The reason their price is low is cause we managed to knock down a few hundred bucks. I think the original was $1000 and I negotiated a $700 front and back. But I dont think that was a full front (Not including the hood, headlights, mirror backs). Either way, I told my dealer that I would take a full Xpel wrap on my whole car and they gave me a reasonable price at 3500 for everything. But that still doesn't include the roof and headlights. Just the exterior panels of the car I believe. Im going to see them today, so Ill see what wrap they are giving me and what they actually include in a full Xpel car wrap.

nnot sure if Xpel is hand or laser cut but I have Suntek. Extremely satisfied with the quality of the film but, the laser cut pieces leave leading edges, they don't wrap around/under (except the hood).
So this leaves a good strip of unprotected paint and a place for it to peel (although it has not)
so so if Xpel wraps, don't even hesitate do the full front ASAP. I have a full front and had a softball size rock bounce off the free way and smack my hood.
it tore some grooves in the film but the paint wasn't effected and no dent.

The most important part of getting your vehicle wrapped is finding a good installer.
One way to do this is to look under the hood to view how the wrap is wrapped around the hood edges.
Am confidant the M-B dealer intends to outsource this job.

Yea, I decided on going for it. I figured either I was gonna get vinyl to protect my car but if they are willing to give me a 10 year warranty on a xpel wrap on my whole car and the cost isin't too far from vinyl then how can I not.

You are correct, they are outsourcing. Couldn't even get the name of the shop that does it but apparently they are gonna come in to the dealership and wrap it. I will let you know on the quality of the wrap but I mean its done by dealer, they have to be relatively professional.

It's not that they wouldn't tell me but they didn't know the name cause they clueless. My service advisor wasn't there the day I gave it in to wrap so I ended up talking to some random guy that barely knew what he was doing. They barely knew what was covered in the full Xpel wrap till someone else said it is just the exterior panels.

I dont think it had to do with me going direct. When I first took delivery of the car and they tried to sell me on the Xpel wrap, I told them I would have to get a full wrap around my whole car or I didn't want it. So then the finance manager I was working with called the shop and asked for a rough estimate for the cost of doing a full wrap for a c63s. Essentially what it will cost the mercedes dealership. The guy on the other end said between 3200-3500 and said it was a rough estimate. So when they brought me in to get the whole car wrapped they had an invoice and said it was 3500, I explained that he said it was 3200 and why I am I paying 3500. Essentially the assured me their dealership cost was 3500 and it was a really rough estimate so i will take their word for it.

So I figured I would give an update if anyone was on the fence about doing their xpel wrap by their dealer. I just got the car back and I have to say they did a very good job. It is obvious that the Xpel is from the C63s kits available on the website.

I got the full wrap and it looks like they bought everything from the XPEL kits except for the roof kit. They also wrapped around the edges for parts like the hood and the fender but cut for parts like the A-Pillar. Im guessing this just based on the length of the kits they got. Below is a list of what they gave me on a "full XPel Wrap" with the prices from the XPEL website.
A-Pillar - 129.95
Full hood, fender and mirror kit- 1049.95
Bumper kit- 439.95
Trunk lid kit- 89.95
Door and rear fender both sides- 2040
Rear Bumper Kit-419.95
Rocker Panel Kit- 519.95
Luggage Area Kit- 59.95
Total: 5389.50

Material costs for a full 5'x60' roll of Xpel Ultimate is around $1500. That's typically enough to do full coverage. Assuming the wrap shop is using the Xpel-provided software to cut the templates: you basically paid about $2k for labor. Which is actually very very cheap, given the amount of time/effort to properly wrap. Typical shop hourly is $80-100, and typically takes 3-4 days to do a proper job.
I paid 4.5k for my Xpel Stealth wrap and it was a poor job that I'll probably have to get redone in 2 years or so. I paid 6.5k for my 911 Turbo for an awesome job that I'm pretty sure will last. The only real difference is the quality of work.
As for vinyl wrap; you can wrap ON TOP of Xpel (and other PPFs). So you get the best of both worlds.

PPF is different from vinyl color-change wrap. Up to 4 times the thickness. And will actually protect your car from things like rock strikes or dumb kids opening SUV doors too wide.
