Rear tire size for 20" wheels on sedan
Hey all. I got some wheels and tires from a fellow member for my sedan and am looking to change the size of the rear tires. I'm playing with a couple different options as shown as option 1 and option 2 below. I'm wanting to get as close to OEM as possible and now I know I'm running a little shorter of a tire than OEM. The two options are either a little taller or a little (less) shorter than OEM. One is a 285 section width (pilot 4s) and the other is wider, but the super sport. They don't make a pilot 4s with a 25r aspect ratio.
Also putting a pic of what it looks like now.
Any thoughts and ideas would be wonderful!

I would go with:
285/30-20 PS4S
Best tire, best width, close to stock, mileage goes up slower.

Interesting to see that chart shows the 285 pilot Super Sport being suitable for a 10.5" rim, while the Pilot Sport 4S suggests a 9.5 - 10.5" rim. Is that a typo or just because its comparing a 25 profile with a 30 profile?
It also shows the tread width as being less on the Pilot Sport 4S (10.1" vs 10.5" for the Super Sport) - again is that something to do with the 25 profile vs the 30 profile?

I would go with PS4S also. Either 285 or 295/30-20. You lose less than 1% accuracy on speedo vs. stock 285's. Also, avoid the MO1 designated tire as I believe that is more tuned for the SL65 AMG.

I just ordered a 2018 C63s. I dithered over the 19/19" or 19/20" tires option but chose the 19/19" package because my understanding is that the rear tire size is the same - 285/30. As I understand matters that means that the tire diameters and the tire patches on the road will be the same for both the the rear 19" or the rear 20" tires, and hence that there is no effective performance advantage to paying extra to get 20" rims.
Next, I would be very careful changing to a tire size above stock. At an AMG Challenge event a few years ago one of the professional drivers (Tommy Kendal as I remember) told a story about driving a new model at high speed on a test track. Everything was fine for a number of laps until the tires got hot and expanded a just little beyond what the design engineers had figured on. A front tire then wore against a front suspension bolt head and blew out at near top speed. That might even have been the origin of the saying "the color of adrenaline is brown."
