Magno Paint after decal removal - am I screwed?

I own a 2017 C63S Coupe Edition One with the Magno Selenite Grey paint. As most of you may know the ED1 comes with these yellow decals/stickers. I was initially going to remove the decals as soon as I purchased the car but the decals actually grew on me (don't ask me why)...fast forward 8 months and I decided to part with the decals and go for a clean look. After having a wrap shop remove the decals I noticed a different shade/tone to the paint beneath. Also, there was a very thin line of buildup on the edges of where the stickers were (combination of dirt, grime and adhesive). After pointing it out to the shop owner he grabs a microfiber and a bottle of alcohol spray and rubs the residue off. Took some work but it was coming off. I noticed the car was not clean and told him I'd finish the job my self (since this genius was rubbing the paint on a dirty car). He hands me a bottle of "clean green" and tells me to take care of it. I take the car and wash it that night, then I come home and begin to wipe what I can off. So here are my 2 problems:

1. The paint where the decals were is a different shade/tone...the car is only 14 months old and was primarily garaged. Did MBZ put the decals on too soon and possibly not allow paint to cure first? Is this something that will go away with a bit of sun? Is there a solution?

It gets worse...

2. the lines that I needed to rub off (with a clean microfiber towel and the cleaning agent) have now left now a bit "shine" along the area where I cleaned...most noticable on the roof. I know that if you buff these finishes you can cause this but I really didn't use much force although quite a bit of friction was required

Basically, I'd like to know if I am FU%$&#! ? or if there's some hope for me....I took such great care of this paint and it's super disappointing to think that it's all went to nothing.

Appreciate the feedback in advance,

Arman

My advice is to find a very reputable auto detailer in your area with experience in dealing with Matte Paint and talk to them. If I were you, I wouldn't keep trying difference solutions because most likely youre going to make it worse. JUST STOP! haha

My nightmare, this is one of the reasons I've held off from getting a Magno finish even though the look amazing!

Sorry to hear what happened, I would take it to a professional retailer and get their advise. Hope it is not too serious.

thanks man. I can always wrap the roof in gloss vinyl and give the car a panorama look. We’ll see...

Hey There

I have a similar situation. I own a retired ADA car in Magno Platinum and I also have the ghosting of where the sponsor and number decals used to be. I actually didn't notice it when I first looked at the car, but after a few days of ownership, in certain lighting conditions and certain angles, I could see it. It's the result of exposed areas being "sandblasted" with air, debris, light, you name it. The area that was left unexposed is obviously more virgin. I don't think it's reversible and I've noticed no change in mine in nearly 3 years. I've gotten used to it and I think I am the only one who ever notices it...I've never had a comment from anyone else either, but my locations are innocuous than the your 205. BTW, I have seen the same phenomenon with gloss painted cars too, just more contrast is created with our matte finish.

I also use the whole suite of Dr Beasley's products, but have not noticed any affect on those areas. Sorry I can't be of any more help but thought I should share my similar experience. As another posted, a detail shop with Matte experience might be able to help, but with Matte paints, less is more.
