New to Mercedes, looking at 2015 AMG C63

Hi there,

I currently own a cadillac ats and ford f150 that I have offers on...and am moving them in the next few days

my goal was to jump in to a 2017 amg c43 sedan (with amg performance pack) but after an extensive search, here in Canada I found a simarilay priced 2015 amg C63 (sedan)

My first question: Is it worth getting the c63? Or should i go up to the C63S? The price difference is significant but there seems to be more amg C63S on the market. A local benz dealer told me that in the Vancouver area they actually do not order any C63 because everyone wants the S version...am I going to miss out on the full experience? Or is the C63 enough of a monster (especially over the c43?)

Second: what are your guys experuence with the 2015 amg c63 sedans (2015 was the remodel year)...are they dependable? Any major issues? This car has 32k kms and has warranty until September 2019,

Thanks for your help!

Just go with the S.

If you were to add all the same options to the regular C63, it would end up costing more than the C63S. Plus, you wouldn't have the extra 34 HP either.

Since you are buying used, the price difference between the two narrows significantly.

My advice when buying a used car is to always look for a "loaded" one. The options hold the least value when buying used.

Thanks for the reply! Appreciate it

I definetely think the S is alot more appealing, but the used market here in Canada has the S at a minimum of $10K more than a C63...even for a 2015! I'm not willing to go into that price point (Remember Im jumping from a C43 to C63)

Just want to know if the 2015 C63 sedan is still an amg badge worthy beast!?

(The benz dealer laughed when I asked if he had an amg C63...is it really a laughable car in the amg world?) Is the C63S the true amg car? Or just juiced out a little more

Search through the forums for the differences, this has been discussed many times before.

Biggest ones for me are:
- Extra 34 HP
- Performance Exhaust
- Leather Interior
- Larger Brakes (with Red calipers)
- Electronic Differential
- Dynamic Engine Mounts
- AMG Performance Steering wheel

The difference is $9K new. Much less than $9K used.

I'm from Toronto BTW.

the thing is that, there are not many used 2015 C63 amg sedans available...(whether the S or not) ...The c63 i found is about 5k under market at $58K, amd the S is $68K (both 2015), if i was buying brand new its less of a % difference, but with my used options limited and factoring in tax its about $12k difference

Remember im coming from looking at a C43...its either that or jump to a c63 in same price range...I just want to know it its worth it jumping from the 43 to a 63...(Or if im getting 63 just go with the S?)

In amg circles is the 63 frowned upon? (i defs know the 43 is lol)

You feel me? Appreciate your help and opinion btw!

The regular C63 is definitely not frowned upon. Many members on this forum have the regular C63 and love their cars.

I just think you need to make an Apples vs Apples comparison. You're comparing a C63 that's a deal vs a C63S that's asking for a premium.

If you're looking for a used car, you just need to be more patient. The problem for you is timing because you already found buyers for your other cars, so you need something now.

For me, those additional features offered by the S were really important and I was willing to pay the premium. If they aren't important to you, go for the regular C63 and I'm sure you'll still be very happy!

My personal motto is if I'm going to spend the money, I'm going to get exactly what I want. I don't ever want to feel like "Oh, I wish I had this option or that option", I'd rather just pay the cash and have what I want so I can enjoy it to the max.

Either will be a significant step up from the C43.. but you do give up AWD. You know, you Canadians and your igloos and all.

It's true that a vast majority of the C63 sold in North America are the S variant. It's just the nature of folks buying a car like this; they'll want the best. And it's the nature of the same folk to sneer at something 'lesser'. The non-S variant will lose a little bit because of the lack of e-diff and dynamic engine mounts, but all the other stuff is either cosmetic, or options available for the non-S. Depending on how optioned out the non-S C63 you're looking at is, you might not see a difference.

If you can only afford to jump to the C63 non-S, do it. If you can swing the S, do it, but don't feel like you're losing a whole lot by not stepping up.

But jumping from 43 to 63 is huge, and definitely recommended.

I am in the similar boat as OP. I am getting into the market for an C63 but trying to decide between the sedan and coupe. Prob going with an S either way but the Coupe seems to be less commonly avail on the pre-owned market than the sedan which is everywhere and they are about $10k more. Thankfully I am in no rush so I can wait and shop for the right car to come about. Whats peoples take on reliability and maintenance for these beasts? I have a ML350 as a second vehicle but that is my only experience in the Benz world (coming from an Audi). Thanks for any input!

Coupe came out over a year after the sedan did, so just by the sheer numbers, there's going to be less. Given 3 year leases, you're looking at only this year before you'll see used lease-end ones pop up.

My ML350 was super reliable. My C63S has been the same. Even when throwing random faulty piggyback tunes on it, then having Dinan work their magic, it's continued to run like a champ with just regularly scheduled maintenance.
