After 5 long months, I finally took delivery of C63S! Coming from my E46 M3, this thing is a beast! I test drove the C43 and originally was going to get that, but wanted to real deal holyfield AMG experience so opted for the 63 and boy am I happy with my decision. The dealer made a couple mistakes with my order, I wanted the cross spoke wheels, he accidentally ordered the twin 5 spoke wheels, I was pretty bummed, but decided to take it anyway. The wheels have grown on me. He added the lit star in the front, which I immediately unplugged, as it's not my stylo. Car is a definitely a head turner, didn't like people staring in all the time, so got some 20% tint. Was thinking about lowering it, but have been reading bad reviews of the KW HAS, how they make noise and such, but do want to lessen the wheel gap, so will wait. Once break-in period is over, will probably go OETUNE with DP's (not sure which) since they are in California and can get it same day tuned.. Question about tunes in general though, being the car is a lease (business), when I take it in for maintenance, how "easy" is it for them to tell that the car is tuned? Will this be an issue? Thanks!
Congrats! I, too, came from an E46 M3 (though a coupe) into a C63S. I'm still breaking in my C so it's hard to give a comprehensive analysis, but it is definitely a different experience. The world has come a long way in the 15 years since my M3 was built!
I will say, though, I had the M3 out last weekend for a drive and the steering on it is just so much better than the C63. In steady-state cornering in a sweeping turn, the C63 has a sort of artificially-created weight to it and the car gets a little annoyed with you for adjusting your line. The M3, by contrast, has that really linear, obviously-connected-to-the-wheels sort of steering that's really a product of a now-bygone era of hydraulic steering.
As far as tunes I have the DINAN high performance one. Very clean wiring which cannot be seen.....there is a plug which you can affix to the interceptor box to bring back to factory setting. Autotalent in CA a vendor on this site sold me the one installed in my car.
