Dumb OEM X-bar Install Questions
Hi all. Have a C63S sedan and purchased a used set of OEM W205 crossbars to do cycling roof racks.
I just tried installing without any instructions and wanted to confirm something. The bolts that mount to the frame have a spring and washer around their bodies which I inserted into the top hole. As you tighten, the washer crushes the spring to flat. Is this the correct orientation? On one of the springs, as I tightened it down, the sping crushed out around the hole. The mounting feels very firm.
Thanks for any assistance.
PS: if anyone has the manual, would love a copy.

I didn't even know there were OEM roof rack bars. I hitch mount my Thule T2 to the X.. have had too many roof rack + garage door incidents. Plus my 40 pound DH bike and my wife's freeride bike don't exactly look right sitting atop a C63.

Hello folks lots of questions on this. I have a thule Archway 3-bike carrier from my old car but dont want to scratch the boot of the car. Was wondering if OEM roof racks are the only option or is there a Thule/Yakima option that will work or that folks have made work. Any info/advice is appreciated.
