Any update or further info on this? I got a quote from a local dealer that sells Mercedes and Volvo. The Mercedes 7 year contract was over $7k and suprisingly I’m being told that Volvo will cover a Mercedes with a 6 year contract for about half the price.

There is a separate forum here just for extended warranties that covers both mfgr's and others. Two key points are (1) a mfgr's warranty _can_ be discounted through different dealers and (2), possibly relevant to your situation, in some places State law dictates that _only dealers_ may sell any kind of extended warranty. For example, I believe (2) applies in California.
