Hey guys, I've been running straight pipes for about a year now with secondary cat delete. The axel backs are custom made by me and my friends just bending and fabricating pipes. I decided to record the exhaust note before I go catless downpipes next week so that I can do a comparison. I will also be running straight pipes with the catless downpipes and maybe decide to mess around with resonators and mufflers to test things out if it gets too loud.
I got the catless downpipes on and with full straight pipe, my other cars in my garage are panicking as i coldstart my car or rev it. I have to carry around my other keys just to undo the panic every morning now lololol.
honestly, even back then I had the OEM downpipes (secondary cat delete), all my friends told me that my car sounds like a harley. With the cat-less downpipes, the exhaust note got raspier at the top end.
Honestly, the video doesn't do the exhaust note justice. There is a decibel limit to most microphones and good ones cost couple hundo. I'll try to take a vid of it once I get some time later this month but its very very very loud. The only car I ever drove that was louder than my amg was a cammed C5 straight piped vet

man - do you like the sound now, after going catless? to me the sound on your original set up - secondary cat delete - was the best! that bassy growl is what I would not like to trade on!
could you please tell me - is there an easy way to delete secondary cat? I mean - can it just be replaced with a straight pipe or not and you can only cut off?
I do not want to go catless - as you said the sound becomes raspier (and cheap imho), just want to go 1 notch louder.

Secondary cat delete for like $200 will REALLY awaken the exhaust note. You'll even notice it at idle. Best first mod. And yes, you have to cut out the secondary cats, unless you drop the trans to remove the entire factory DP and install a 2-piece DP with cats but with secondary cat delete...

thanks, mate - this explains it. i wonder though if it would make that much of the difference on the post-2019 facelift model, which are much more muted from factory compared to the pre-facelift C63?
I had valve simulators with the stock performance exhaust and a secondary cat delete. Once I installed catless downpipes, all i can say is I totally removed those valve simulators. Every morning when I start my car, it sounds like I had cams done. It's too loud if you leave it 100 percent completely open. I couldn't have a conversation with anyone in my car until I was able to use the open and close valve option again.
I have catless downpipes to AWE track exhaust on mine, that's essentially 3" straight pipe from the turbos back. Needless to say my neighbors aren't fans, but it's insane at WOT and I love it. Barely any drone in comfort mode on the highway too.

hey do you have any video clips?
Currently I have AWE Track and Seconday Cat Delete but ive spent enough time with this setup to get used to it and itching to go louder but thought adding catless downpipes might be too obnoxious unless I add back the mufflers..

Yes I do. I also have a cold start vid and rolling vid somewhere...
Does the AWE track get rid of pop and bangs when revving and in sport+/race? catless downpipes not loud enough for me haha. having a hard time deciding between awe and amytrix

No it doesnt. The exhaust has nothing to do with pops and bangs so if your exhaust pops now you can put whatever exhaust and it still would.

No it actually makes them louder bc of less restriction.
