Tobias Moers (head of AMG) confirmed in April that they aren’t doing another C63 BS for this generation. They’re focused on the AMG GT BS.
Google for the April interview he did.

It’ll be the last hurrah for the W205, so we’re probably looking at a 2020 release for the C63R.

I'm going to see what the new Porsche 992 has to offer, If I was to get a V6 it would be a Porsche
Or a Second hand AMG GTR would be nice.

I’m probably going to pickup a 991.2 to replace the C63S. The base Carrera’s are a steal right now and the S’s are going to drop hard once the 992’s come out.
I want to grab a C4 or C4S PDK and throw on turbos, someone just made 600whp on a base Carrera 3.0T with Tial turbos and Cobb Tuning. Cobb is a 15 minute drive from my house, so a 991.2 with more power than a Turbo for half the price sounds pretty good to me...

That's awesome man the 991.2 are good looking cars - C4S with PDK would be ideal
With the turbo upgrade that thing will be quick!!!!
I was considering the 991.2 but after seeing the spy shots of the 992 I'm keen to see it in person. The interior will be taken from the new Panamera - which looks awesome.
The base 991.2 is still around $280k AUD (These cars are so expensive down under). The GTS (what I ideally want) is around $340k AUD :O

2021 Mercedes C63s AMG Coupe
So in general it would be fair to say, Merc would be shooting their own foot if all of you guys are shifting. Fingers crossed to catch one of last few units of 2020, that's when my lease ends.

Think Mercedes knows their amg customers want a v8. I also don't mind a hybrid v8, but if they moved to a hybrid v6 I'd move on to Porsche too

2019 C63CS
Anyway, back to the point, I'm here with an ordered C63 S, because Audi downsized the RS5 from the naturally aspirated high-revving V8 to a rather mundane V6TT killing all the exhaust sound in the process. Especially the much quieter exhaust is due to the new noise regulations that took effect recently. The current AMGs are all grandfathered because they entered the market before the regulations took effect. Supposedly the '19 facelift is quieter because of this, but the way AMG seems to have done it is by reducing the amplitude of only certain frequencies so the noise doesn't travel as far. They've also added the particulate filter in Europe (looks like US spec cars don't have it) that further reduces noise and instead additional noise is piped into the cabin through the cars' speakers.
We might indeed see 6 cylinder engines in the next generation and more artificial sound. AMG is not immune to the regulations noose. Porsche had to go turbo charged on most of their 911 models, too and the Boxter/Caymen are now 4 bangers. The next 911 GT3 is being said to lose it's high-revving naturally aspirated engine as well and the new 992 platform has been prepared to support hybrid setups in anticipation that they will have to go that route as well.
