In California it is state law to have (2) license plates displayed on the vehicle; one in the front and one in back. My car came from Germany without a front license plate bracket mounted and as such the car is perfectly preserved in the front, meaning no drilling or modification to the original body has been made. I want to avoid drilling into the body of my car at all costs to add the license plate frame since if I ever move anywhere else the front license plate wont be required. Does anyone know of a good drill-less mounting bracket for the license plates on the front? Everything I keep finding online are ones designed for specific vehicles but it doesn't look like Mercedes has one for the C63S Coupe.
Look for a license plate mount with a tow hook. I require 2 plates as well so far no ticket lol. Can’t imshinr drilling holes into a car of this caliber.
So I designed and 3d printed a bracket that attaches via heavy-duty zip-ties. I've been using it for about a year with no issues... it's pretty sturdy. The way it's mounted on my car makes it seem like the license plate is almost floating in front of the bumper. It's slightly tricky threading the zip-ties through but not really that bad, takes about 10-15 mins to install. Essentially, it's contoured to fit against the black portion of the bumper, and I used some good foam tape anywhere the plastic is touching the bumper (my car is also wrapped with XPEL). The license plate attaches to the bracket using square nuts and bolts that you can get from Lowes or Home Depot.
If anyone is interested, I've attached the 3d printable STL (model) file, although I can't guarantee it will work since that depends on your ability to 3d print, the material used (I used PETG but ABS would work too), the 3d printer used, and a lot of other things. I painted mine to give it UV protection. It's only been tested on my 2018 C63S Coupe, and no I won't design a custom one for your car. Basically, if you do use this, you're on your own (but if you can successfully print it, you'll know before you mount it if it'll work).
