I havent had a chance to drive in the summer yet since I bought the car just as winter was starting but even in these -20 temperatures the car heats up to ~100 C which is well within normal temps according to the guage but all this happens in just 35-40 km of spirited driving. Makes me wonder how the car will behave in the summer!

The engine oil termperature is constantly around 89 degrees for me during winter, I drive in comfort mode. During summer times and while driving in Race mode, the temperature is just around 100 degrees for an average of 60 km

AMG engines actually take a long time to heat up. Often 10 minutes or more to get to operating temps for me. Compare that to a GT3 or 458 engine which only takes about 5 minutes.

What car/s are you comparing this too?

Forced induction engines take longer to heat up but they also take more to keep them cool.. the engines are smaller than their NA counterparts that make the same power.. Uses less fuel to make the same power..so you have a higher efficiency.. the turbos get red hot but the block itself takes longer to heat up. once the engine is at temp though with a screaming hot set of turbos it requires more cooling. my dad's 2019 s63 and my 335 both bi turbo engines take way way longer to warm up than my s63 with the 6.2 liter naturally aspirated v8.

Morning starts take a very long time for the car to get to operating temperature but i guess the freezing temperatures here dont help either

MBWorld Fanatic!
I remember driving Camaros and such in the 60's that didn't warm up until you got to work or in 20 minutes...whatever came first....count your blessings.
