Dumb Question: How does OEM tire pressure and temperature sensor work?

Hi there, I'm gonna take delivery of my C63S coupe in September. My car has standard 19" RSW wheels. I would either swap for 19"/20" RXC wheels or other aftermarket wheels with 20" all round. So I would need to decide and order within June. My question is how does the tire pressure and temperature sensor work? Is there a sensor inside the tire or rims that I need to remove from the original set and place on the new set of wheels? Sorry I'm kinda ignorant on these stuff.... Thanks in advance for any answers from you all.

RSW 19" wheels

RXC 19"/20" wheels

Yes. They recommended that you get new sensors with new wheel, not re-mount the old one.

Thanks!
Are there any special process to pair/connect the new set of sensors to the vehicle system? Or is it all automatic?

If you buy buy the right sensors then it an automatic. 7 yeas ago I bought my wheels from the TireRack.com, they know exactly which sensors for my SLK55. I didn’t have to do anything when I mount the wheels .

Cool Thanks! I'll look for local shops here that knows how to order the right sensors then.

go to tire pressure monitor screen, click down, click ok to reset TPMS. it will search for new/old sensors faster this way. if you are getting a brand new car, there is no reason not to use the original TPMS sensors unless you arent swappig tires from OEM wheels. if you are getting new tires too, then i would get new sensors as it will cost money for them to remove old tpms.

Thanks for the advice. I'm probably selling the original rims with original tires (Michelin PSS) and getting new rims with new tires (Michelin PS4S). So will most likely need to get new set of sensors.
