Another newbie question

Sorry, I’m sure this has been covered but a search on “oil” returns nothing.

Just thought I’d buy some for when I do need to top up. So checked the MB site and it says 0 W40 or 5 W40.

Just wondered which grade you guys actually use.

Many thanks.

Both are not much different in weight. But if you have to decided, the 0w-40 flow better in colder weather at startup.

Go to Walmart, buy a gallon jug of Mobil One 0W-40 for $20ish, you'll have plenty for top offs for life, though I haven't heard of this engine burning oil so I'm not sure why you'll want it.

Ok thanks. My M3 used to need a top up every 5k. But if this engine doesn’t use any I’ll save my money.
