Aftermarket Air Filter vs OEM

Aftermarket Air Filter vs OEM
Is there an advantage to an aftermarket air filter (Weistec) vs the AMG OEM?
I looked at the Weistec photos that shows the comparison in the thickness of the air filters where the Weistec is half the height so it's supposed to not block any air flow.
Do you get more HP? Does better airflow produce better engine/exhaust sounds? Better for fuel economy?

Yes.
A different filter in the factory air Box will not change the sound of the car.
There is likely some small gain in miles per gallon since the turbos will be working less to produce the same power, particularly it cruising at however it will not be enough for you to actually reliably measure IMO.

Why are car manufacturers generally not installing the high-flow air filters by default (at least in the $80k+ cars like C63S)? Or is the high-flow air filter more a marketing for folks looking into aftermarket mods? For the car manufacturer, I would presume the cost difference to be minimal between the two (at least for air filters).
