TC OFF, Can Car Cut Power to Engine if you Mash it?
A bit of a silly question, but I was reading a post about lag, or hesitation, and a guy made a comment, "Or traction control because he's mashing on the throttle too hard and it's cutting his power". This same thing seemed to happen to me? I was in a gas station type place in a rural area with the smooth cement where it's slick and easy to spin the tires. Just got the car and I haven't turned off TC much, and when I did I just hit the button thinking it was OFF, and didn't realize you had to hold it down 2 seconds to take it Off Completely.
Anyway, turned OFF TC and was slowly rolling toward the exit and had 20 feet before I would get onto the highway (No Cars), and just to test it I floored it from a slow roll, 5mph. The first thing is it lagged slightly and then started spinning the tires and the RPM's were climbing, and all of a sudden, the car bogs and the RPM Needle Drops and stutters as if the ECU cut power based on my flooring the car. I was surprised it did this as I was straight and I think I was in S.
Love the car but sometimes you do need to give it more gas than I'd like to get it moving, even when rolling unless you really punch the gas hard. I just got a Stage 2 Tune and that definitely got rid of the so-called "lag or hesitation" but my Stock Tune was back on my car while I get something sorted out, but it will be back on soon!

That's interesting. Did you feel a difference in dyno mode launches vs TC OFF? What was the difference in ET and 60'?

My rolling burnouts from 1st-4th gear in my 17’ Coupe says otherwise. You probably didn’t hold the TC button long enough, sounds like you were in ESP Sport, not Off.
Facelift cars also have the new AMG TC system that can be dialed up and down ala GTR (1-10 settings) - if you have a facelift car, may need to do some reading up on how to disable everything.
Pre-facelift cars it’s cake, hold the button long enough until the traction off warning flashes on the dash screen - then smoke tires to your hearts’ content.
if you’re getting engine bogging or cutting with ESP completely off and you’re pre-facelift, something might be wrong with your ECU especially if it’s been flashed with a tune. I recall some flashes messed up peoples Distronic/cruise control, so it’s not out of the realm of possibilities - who’s tuning your car?
