Finding A C63/s

Does Mercedes dealerships have a nationwide search of everything that is in inventory across all dealerships? It is super time consuming going on every single Mercedes dealership website to search for a c63 or c63s and each dealership always updates their inventory so it is very easy to miss a c63 I am looking for.

Most dealers post their used inventory in things like CarGurus, etc.

I was watching all the area dealer inventory (via dealer sites) as well as CarGuru, AutoTrader, Craigslist and Kijiji when I was looking in January. In the end, the car I purchased was found by placing a "want to buy" ad on Craigslist. I stated my "must-have options" as well as "bonus-point options" and I ended up getting almost exactly the configuration that I wanted and there hasn't been anything comparable since I purchased.

Yes, your dealer should have access to nationwide inventory. We use NetStar to locate vehicles...

At least around here, dealerships are putting their inventory on Autotrader. That's how I initially located vehicles to test drive, check them out and start a relationship. I was looking for ones that had the AMG Performance Seats, so I could try them out properly. I then contacted the respective dealerships through their websites by scheduling a test drive for the specific car in their inventory, and ultimately custom ordered my spec from one of them. I think it's more productive if you go to the dealerships that have the car you are looking for, or at least one that's somewhat close to the spec you want and then they can look for the exact spec or you can custom order.

+1 to this. Just contacting dealerships over email or even phone hardly gets their attention. I used Autotrader to locate a car that was close to the options I wanted, scheduled an appointment, went in person for the test drive, negotiated the price and picked up the car. However, it took some time and persistence overall.

It appeared as if most dealers were in no hurry to make the sale. Another issue I had was that the local inventory for C63S was very very slim. The dealers just try to sell cars located elsewhere in the US for a higher markup. Most dealers refused to go below 3% under MSRP for cars that were not custom orders, which was another ridiculous thing.

Across roughly 15 dealerships in the Bay Area, I found only three 2019 C63S cars in total and two were at the same dealer. In my case, luckily this was a dealer who was interested in moving the car, had 95% of the options I wanted and was able to offer a double digit percent off MSRP. It took some time and persistence though.

There was one dealer who had an unsold 2018 in their lot two months ago and was trying to sell it to me at $1000 off MSRP - LOL.

It might be a different (better) experience outside California.

Yeah, buying in the bay area is terrible. I went to Mercedes of Pleasanton, the salesman said, "Oh you're lucky, that one doesn't have a markup." I asked about getting 6-8% off and he laughed. They came back with 5% off MSRP but a marked up money factor to more than make up for the 5% off. I emailed 5+ dealers in the area with an order and said I would put money down today if they could do it for 5% off. Not one replied. I ended up calling a dealership in Ohio I got my last Mercedes from. I said I wanted 6-8% off MSRP on an order and to have the car shipped here. The salesman immediately said "Ok, I'll do 8% off. I can't do any more because we wont make enough money for it to be worth it." So he got a sale. After that we were shopping for a BMW M340i and had a terrible experience with bay area dealers. Best quote we got was to lease for $1,087 a month on a 57k MSRP (36/10k lease, 2500 due at signing). Found a dealer in SoCal that did the same exact car, plus parking assist, same terms for $490 a month. No dealer here would go under $500 a month even on a LOANER 330i! I don't know what it is about this area, but the dealerships are nuts.

I'm in the Bay Area myself and also visited the Pleasanton location this week. I found that BMW dealers have been worse - only 2 replied to my inquiry about ordering a 2020 M4 - and my current M3 lease is up in September. Anyway, I bought a 2019 C63S yesterday and got 10% off in less than 10 minutes of negotiating. I'm loving the new ride and was ready for a change of scenery anyway.

I'm pretty sure I test drove that car! White, black wheels, sport seats? They had it for a long time, probably why they gave you a deal. After I walked they called a week later and asked if I'd be interested for 75k, it was an 82,XXX sticker. I had already found the dealer in the midwest to get an order by that time though. That's a nice car though. Congrats.

I saw that car as well, but I bought a different car from another dealer in the Bay Area. Thanks - congrats on your incoming car!
