We visited Cars and Coffee at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend to view the cars. There was a large crowd. While walking around, it was announced that you could take your personal vehicle around the speedway for 3 laps for a $25 donation to the Speedway Children’s Charity. I couldn’t wait! So, after the car shows was complete, we grabbed breakfast then returned to the track. I participated in a NASCAR Driving experience a few years back the was likely the most exciting drive of my life. I saw 175 mph and it was the fastest time of the day.
The Cars and Coffee drive is escorted by a pace car with a 70 mph max limit. I drove 101 mph on the banked oval by sandbagging and then accelerating through the gap I created. Although not particularly fast, driving the track was great fun. We did it twice 👍. The charity is very worthwhile and helps many. I would encourage anyone interested in driving the Speedway to check out their website and join the next time it’s sponsored. Hit me up if you go, MB was sorely underrepresented.
