Really Odd Sound

Originally posted this in another thread for an exhaust sound but after hearing it again I dont think its coming from the exhaust.

My car had been in the shop for almost a month getting some body and paintwork done. (No mods, my car was vandalized.)

When I got the car back a couple days ago I noticed a noise that only comes for about a second under heavy load. It comes when the g-force is at its peak, literally the first second after I step on the gas as I get pushed back in my seat. I can get the sound consistently by going heavy on the gas from standstill.

To me, it sounds similar to the sound of someone securing a ziptie. I think it is coming somewhere in the left rear of the vehicle. I don't think its from the exhaust, my best guess would be the left rear wheel.

The repairs I just had done were all done in the trunk and left rear area. So its possible something is incorrectly put together back there? I really have no idea.

Any advice? Has anyone experienced something similar? I really don’t want to be without my car for so long again just after getting it back.

I’d atleast like to help them out with what the issue may be so as to speed up the repair process.

Thanks!

Shouldn't the body shop which fixed your car help you figure this out? It should be covered by them. Otherwise part the car out and write it off, haha.

It would make most sense for them to. They're the most reputable shop for mercedes in the area. My dealer sends all their cars to them. But I'm thinking if they caused it inadvertently, what are the odds of them being able to fix it?

Also, they had my car for a month so I'm not sure how fast they'd be with this.

Would be ideal if someone here who has had a similar experience could share what the issue was, so I could get it done quickly.

I agree with lessismore. Ride their a$$. The issue was not there before you dropped it off. Now it is. Can you elaborate on the extent of the vandalism? It'll possibly give an idea as to what they needed to touch in order to repair the car.

Well insurance considered it vandalism. in reality, someone tried breaking into the trunk.

so the trunk lid itself, the rear bumper, and the left sode panel touching the trunk had to be repaired.
