CarPlay issue when muting
When I’m listening to audio via CarPlay (Podcasts and Spotify for sure), muting sound by pressing the volume wheel on the steering wheel doesn’t pause playback. It’s annoying to have to pause via the touchpad.
When listening via Bluetooth playback pauses as I’d expect.
Anybody else see the same behavior? Any way to change it? I’ve searched and can’t seem to find anything.
I’ve got the 2019 facelift and an iPhone XS. It did this with iOS 12 and still does it with iOS 13.

I noticed this as well, after being used to bluetooth connectivity in my w204 where the mute button would pause playback, it seems strange that it doesnt work the same way with carplay. I have the feeling it might be something inherant with carplay, which is disappointing. I have confirmed that if you go back to using bluetooth it works as expected.
