Good discount on new 2019 C63 S Sedan?

I love my 2018 718 GTS, but i think i am ready to get into a C63 S. Its been a fun car, just time for a bigger car that will still allow me some fun on the road.

With the 2020 model year coming out soon, whats a good discount off msrp for a c63 S sitting on a dealers lot? I am in TX, but can really fly in to pick up the right deal anywhere. Appreciate any advice you have before i start talking to dealers!

not sure you're going to see too many 2020's just sitting around on a dealers lot. at least not for another few months. not sure about the sedan, but for the coupes in the country that just got released last week, probably 98% of them are already spoken for. assuming the sedan isnt too far behind

Pretty sure he's talking about discount on a '19 sitting on a lot.

I got 10.5% off on a coupe back in April. I know sedans got discounted more than coupes and would expect even more so now that '20s are about to hit dealer lots [no way 98% are spoken for].

If he lives in Houston, it’s long highway straights as far as the eye can see

Bought my 19 S Coupe in June and traded my 18 718 CGTS in for it. Overall don’t miss anything but perhaps the PDK box. Option it right and the S is still generally less money than a comparably equipped 718 GTS. And it has the glorious V8 vs. the 4. I am very happy with the MB - my first. The swap was worth it to me obviously. I like the looks and overall package better than the Porsche.

I likely wouldn’t do the same if I had a 991.2 GTS though :-). Good luck in your search.

I do love the handling and responsiveness of the 718! Its a cornering machine for sure. To me, its an ok daily driver but a really great weekend car. I think the c63s will be a better all around daily driver and is sporty enough to enjoy driving it.

Finding a discount is not the real issue. Finding a car you like is a bigger issue.

Traded in 981 GTS for my sedan. No ragrats.

check cargurus.com for dealer inventory and key in on dealers that have cars sitting for more than 90 days. I just checked and see that MB of Boerne has a C63 that has been on the lot for over 300 days. I promise you they will be very aggressive on the price with that one. I picked up my 2018 C63 S Sedan from them just over a year ago and they were good to work with. I had to haggle via email a bit, but in the end I walked away with a good deal on the car.

If you still find a 2019 C63S sedan in a dealer's lot, you should be able to get at least a 15% discount IMO or may be even more depending on how really interested the dealer is moving the car off the lot. I was able to get close to that level of discount back in June of this year. If you have access to MB Fleet Discount (many employers have access to this), you can stack that on top of the best price that the dealer offers, since MB pays for that and not the dealer.

The harder part is usually finding a car which matches the packages/options you're looking for. Also, some dealers will really just not bother to sell the car for more than few percent off and you might just have to walk away to find a better deal.

Guys, how much discount can one aim for on a custom order? It seems like cars on the lot are always either white and black. Almost as if there are no other colors these cars come in.

Following this as I might be interested in a '19 AMG C63S, but doesn't have to be new. The other questions I have are, is it that much of an improvement for the S vs the non-S? My track days are over, and my daily drive is over mostly flat Florida roads and highways. Also, what would be the "must have" options?

OT but you've had some collection of cars over the years - great list

FYI OP: Autotrader currently shows three 2018 C63 S sedans left nationwide. I'd say 25%+ off is a pretty good starting point for a two-year-old car.

I purchased my 2017 C63S new in March of 2018, so a car that had been sitting on a lot for some time. The discount I arranged was about 18% off of MSRP when all elements of the deal are accounted for. It's possible that I could have squeezed out an extra percent or two, but I was trying to ensure a quick deal since it was basically the only 2017 S with night package and performance exhaust in the country.

I guess the sedans get way more discount than the coupe's in general?

I think it's easier to get sedan discounts. Not as many people lining up to order sedans. Seeing a lot of 2020 coupes in my area though, more than sedans. All five dealers have 10 cars or so on the lot. Bet you nice discounts should be pretty easy.

You have to decide for yourself if the S is worth it over the non-S. The difference in price between the two shrinks significantly as you add options, because the S has many non S options standard, and some other options are cheaper on the S than they are on the non S. Fully loaded (minus CCBs) the price differential is only about $4000. For that you get more power, bigger brakes and the killer feature IMO, the 9-stage traction control from the GT R.

After having owned my 2019 C63S coupe for a while now, I can definitely say the S is worth it for the traction control alone. I'm not even talking about the ability to adjust it manually in 9 stages. That's something you'll most likely only use on the track once you get to the point where fiddling with the traction control lets you eke out faster lap times. I'm talking about how it goes about maintaining traction in general, even if you just play with the drive modes and ESP Sport Handling mode. Most traction control systems are very intrusive and tend to kill the fun by cutting engine power as they scramble to regain traction. This car being mostly traction limited, the intrusive traction control is a common complaint. As Jeremy Clarkson says, most traction control systems feel like you are being hit on the head with a hammer.

The first thing one will quickly notice with the 9-stage system is that it isn't intrusive and actually helps you get the most out of the car with all its torque going to the rear wheels. So even if you never go to the track or hit up a windy canyon road, it will help you put the power on the pavement during those WOT times ripping up an onramp etc. As opposed to traditional traction control systems that intervene abruptly by cutting engine power and scrambling to brake individual wheels once traction is lost, this system is proactive and much faster reacting and it doesn't cut power. Instead it manages the torque going to each rear wheel to maintain just the right amount of wheel spin for the fastest acceleration. Essentially you can go WOT, and it will hold the engine torque just in the right spot for a consistent wheel spin to maximize traction. In sport handling mode it will allow more wheel spin than with ESP fully on, but it never cuts power that causes the car to lurch. The thing about traction is that tires actually generate more traction if they slip slightly. About 10% slip generates the most traction, and that's essentially what this traction control system does beautifully. It holds the slip, working with the ECU to produce just the right amount of torque and the e-diff to send the right amounts to each wheel. It's the first traction control system that I've experienced that works with me instead of against me.
