Don't want to steal this thread discussing octane levels...I am sure they have been discussed many times. I have only seen higher octane help in something like 1/2 mile racing and it only helps by keeping the car from pulling timing toward the top end. However, a tune with a higher octane like 100 or E85 definitely can add HP. Just my 2 cents!

I’m liking this thread, here’s another from a few years ago in New York after European Delivery. I think this was the fill that put me over the break in mile period (what a glorious day that was!)

By the way bro how are your 295 Michelin 4s tires in the back going? Are they still grippy or have they started slipping?

It's the the beast from the east (even though you're from the south west )! Looking sinister and tough. Can't wait to see the new carbon bits installed.

To answer your question about the 295's...I friggin LOVE them. They look so much better then the stretched 285 (fill the gap) and from the rear look so meaty!!! I can break them loose but they hook really well for a street tire and with my new power I thought I would roast them all the time but they hook pretty well.
I actually ran up against a newer E63S 4matic wagon the other day and at the light he told me he used to own a C63 and loved it but the traction he got in the 4matic was awesome. I assume he could hear my catless DP's but we went on green anyway. He did pull me initially (damn 4 wheel drive ) but I stayed on his rear wheel and started to pull him in and he let off.
I was like DAMN "you got yours by beating me off the line...now give me mine as my power gets to the ground"...LMAO!!! Oh well it was fun anyway!

Let me explain my catless down pipe sounds as follows:
1) Comfort or Sport mode with exhaust valves closed = Kind of sounds like when I had stock DP's but maybe a tad louder (more of a growl) unless you jump on it...say around 3k RPM's the valves start too open and it sounds exotic (best way to describe)...I actually drive around in Sport with the valves closed a lot because that way it is kind of a sleeper and if I jump on it all of sudden the car next to me know's this is not your typical Mercedes...LMAO
2) Sport mode valves open = Has a very deep V8 rumble as you pull away from a light and slightly accelerate but if you jump on it...it gets stupid loud real fast!
3) Sport + & Race mode = Has sort of the same sound as Sport but because of the later shifts in this mode it sounds a bit more raspy as you slightly accelerate but if you jump on it...it sounds amazing. The sound with the hard shifts sounds exotic at best. And of course in these modes is when you get the pops and bangs but mine are not excessive like some I have heard and I like that better.
Just my 2 cents on how my setup sounds...
