Opinion: 2016 C63S *New to Merc/AMG*

I have recently been in the market for a 4 door car since my wife and I will be expecting our first child in December. I've always been a car guy, but mostly have been in the VW/Audi world since I was in my teens. I've owned 3 B5 S4's and currently daily a 06 GTI that is just about maxed out, performance wise.

With the new baby, my wife will be the primary school bus driver in our '17 Escalade, but the thought of trying to get a car seat/kid secured in the back of my hatchback is not something I would like to try.

I drove a '16 C63S yesterday at my local MB dealership and fell in love. Car has just over 20K miles, palladium silver paint, red calipers, red seat belts (prepared to buy entire car just for the seat belts), and the 19" twin spoke AMG wheels that I also quite like. From the build sheet, car iso has option 319 - lighting package with LED lights and automatic high/low beams, etc. and option 320 - multi media package with the nav/voice control. Seems like a pretty standard build to me. Looks like original MSRP was $79,325 with destination.

Currently dealer is asking just over 53K for the car, with all fees included. Thoughts on this asking price?

My largest reservation about this particular car is that I am now in the same price range as the Tesla Model 3 Performance version that I was originally set on. Having driven that car as well, the acceleration is crazy fast. It has all the bells and whistles, and the self driving cruise control is a huge upside to me as I sit in Austin, TX traffic for about 2 hours a day.

Downsides to the Tesla are the unproven batteries and tech. I have read/watched many "car experts" say they would never actually buy a Tesla. Who knows what happens 3 years from now with battery performance/life span and Tesla can always detune the car remotely, without my consent, if they have data showing that reducing the speed/acceleration of the car will reduce service claims and such.

What are members thoughts on daily driving the C63S in traffic and normal life conditions? How does this car work with a child and wife along for the trip? As mentioned, this will primarily be my car, but the wife will drive occasionally as well. I have searched the forums briefly, but are there any known issues I can spot while looking at the car again?

From everything I can see the car is in good shape, considering the millage and model year. There are a few scratches and nicks in the paint, but nothing that is glaring or substantial. The interior is in quite nice shape. I can see that the white leather stripe on the steering wheel is worn and has a spot where the white color has been worn away, but I can just use that to get the price down some. One of the rear seat belt tensioners is broken or about to break as the seat belt retracts very slowly, and requires help to reel it back in, but of course MB would replace this.

Any advise or insider knowledge would be greatly appreciated! If all works out I will soon be a fellow AMG owner.

53k out of the door price including all taxes and fees ? Any remaining warranty on the car ? Seems like a decent price to me.

Few weeks ago I purchased a 2018 Certified c63s pretty well spec'ed for $63K + fees. The car has about 15K miles. 2+ yrs remaining new car warranty and one year unlimited CPO warranty after that. I also purchased an additional 2+ years extended warranty which gives me coverage for 5 years in total.

I work in a bodyshop that repairs both Mercedes and Tesla and the difference in build quality is vastly different . Telsa's construction is cheap , no where near the quality of the Mercedes .They also take forever to repair due to part supply issues .We have 6 Telsa's presently sitting in our shop waiting for parts and some have been there months with no scheduled delivery date for the required parts yet .

Yes, 53K out the door. They've had it at the dealership for almost 3 months now, and since I've been watching it the price has dropped some. The car itself is advertised at $49,xxx.

The car had a late 2015 delivery date when it was originally sold. From what was explained to me, the new car warranty took effect then, so I believe i'll have the original warranty until late 2020 (cannot remember what exact date they told me when the warranty took effect). I believe I'll have the 1 year CPO warranty as well, once the factory warranty expires.

Honestly, the first salesperson I was working with was new and not very knowledgable about the car. She had to excuse herself to deal with another customer's appointment, and the second guy was much more knowledgable about the car and Mercedes brand. I still need to go more in depth with extended warranty options and such.

Yes, I've heard about these issues, but nice to get some input from someone with actual knowledge. The more I think about it, the less I'm into the Model 3. I can see that car being good if you go with the standard 40K model, but I can't see myself being happy with the base model car, long term.

New car warranty is 4 yr / 50,000 miles. If the car's in service date is late 2015, then the warranty will be effective until late 2019. Plus you get the 1 yr unlimited miles CPO. You can purchase 2 additional years of extended warranty from MB.

My 2017 AMG, purchased earlier this year, is my first Mercedes, coming from a BMW and prior to that a variety of import and domestic brands. This car does not disappoint. It is an absolute blast, lots of personality, beautiful interior, tuning potential ... and as a DD, you never have to worry about finding a charging station

The whole problem getting replacement/repair parts with Tesla is long standing and well recognized. If this is a DD, that alone might steer me away.
