C63 Valve Buckets
Hi All
my wife's C63 2015 507 (M156 engine) had tappet noise at around 50,000ks at 60,000 we took it the dealer. We have now been advised that the repair will cost $12,000! - and it is out of warranty. In 2007 I bought an E63 with the same engine. At around 180,000ks it had the same tappet issue. That time the camshafts were replaced as well. My repair cost $15,000, the dealer did me a 50/50 deal on the repair cost. I read about some US owners taking-on Mercedes in court over the issue of head-bolts (in the earlier M156 motors) and tappet/camshaft wear. They lost. I have also heard that there are some service notes issued to dealers referencing the camshaft/tappet problem with this engine. I would be grateful If anyone can give me information on this issue.
