Secondary Cat Delete - Sydney (Australia) Recommendation

Hi there,

Anyone had it done in Sydney and can recommend a place.
Ive called hi-tech mufflers and it was $1,500. Feels abit expensive to delete a cat.. might as well get a dump\front pipe.
Other shops said its too hard of a job and wont do it.

$1500? Fu*k that hahaha. Put it this way, I did a full muffler delete (two of them) on my BMW M5 for $110 at Budget Exhaust Merrylands 5 years ago. I don't think prices have changed that much since then but if you're ringing around for quotes, all you do call, tell them you need two cat converters cut out, how much? Don't tell them what car you drive first. Let them ask you. If you call them up asking for a cat delete on a 2017 C63 AMG they'll think you're loaded and start quoting you bullsh*t prices.

Let us know how you go aye.

No. They simply cut them out and weld pipes in place. Easy.

Below is the exhaust diagram from the tech manual. Number 159 on the diagram are the secondary cats.

Maybe a dumb question - but how would they weld around it w/o dropping the exhaust...and if you do that they may have to drop the tranny to get access to drop the pipes ...if the tranny needs to be dropped to properly access the welds around the pipe than the quoted price is not so far away as that is a lot of labor and tranny fluid would need to be refilled too?

Let's clarify this with @untamedd first as he's our cat delete expert here

its a tough weld but its possible.. that is why not all shops will agree to do the job in the first place but speaking from experience you definitely do not have to drop anything for just a secondary cat delete.

Allen International Autohaus has a nice workshop but quotes are not cheap.... $2600-$2700 something for fluid change C63S. Twice rang up & got told I would get a call back about fixing a coolant leak last year never heard back from them. Sent an e-mail never heard back either.

Are there any other shops in Sydney that people can recommend besides International Autohaus?

Regards

pretty sure IAH was around $1200 for fluid change. you can try city performance centre but they are pretty pricey I have used them before for my ML 63. but only use allen now for the past few years. good work is not cheap unfortunately

Doesnt make much sense to go to a service shop for a cat delete. They will just drive my car to the local exahust shop to get it done lol

Any recommendations for an exhaust shop to carry out the secondary cat delete in Melbourne?
