Downpipes

I have to be blunt and ask this. Is there any real difference in downpipes that are offered - aside from some having heat shields? There is such a wide range of prices. ModalWorks and Shardul's look identical. Basically all say SS304 3" construction. I'm okay paying a little higher for quality if there really is a difference.

The difference isn't in the SS, it's in the welds. You don't want weld cracking breaking off under high heat after WOT runs. FWIW I have the UPD catless DPs, and found the welds to be very clean and professional. I haven't seen any other ones in person but they look nice in pictures, not sure how they will be when you get them in hand.

Appreciate the feedback. I guess that was were I was struggling. They all look good to me in pictures. I've got PTG1000 turbos coming next week so I need to get downpipes. I don't want to make a mistake with them.

Hey... I have the UPD DP's for sale... They indeed looked good in person and my mechanic (Mercedes certified technician who started his own speed shop) says they are solid quality and perfect fitment.

And Shardul has hundreds of these floating around on all platforms with ZERO complaints on them so you know they're good.

That was my understanding also going into my decision for which catless DP to choose. Based on that and some other good information I decided to go with Weistec down pipes.

They only have two weld spots out of both down pipes as follows:
