MY2019+ Soft Limiter

Curious if Stage 1/2 tunes are able to get rid of the soft (rev) limiter on the MY2019+ cars? Or if someone else figured out a way to remove it from the ECU?

I dont think so. My understanding is that it has something to do with the cpc/tcu. My eurocharged ecu tune was not able to remove the soft rev limiter or even the speed limiter. Still capped at 4k rpm in park and 176 mph full out

I think people like benzninja or Amir are able to do it at an extremely affordable price.
My understanding with this is that it hurts the transmissions if you remove the rev limiter.

Can anyone confirm if something bad happens if you remove it just for pure revving purposes ( like when someone asks to rev it )

no, its for emission and noise regulations. If this is true then all amg from pre facelift and back would have a soft limiter

Soft limiters are definitely rooted in emissions and noise regulations, but also to protect the engine from damage and the manufacturers from lawsuits if somebody keeps pegging the engine at redline in a parking lot and blows it up. The emissions and noise regulations only recently led to soft limiters as they are getting ever more stringent. For example in Germany or most of Europe for that matter, the noise regulations specifically apply to 4000 rpm and below. There are literally police task forces cruising around in major German cities pulling cars over that they think are too loud. They then hold a decibel meter behind the exhaust and the driver is asked to rev to 4000 rpm and hold it there. The soft limiter makes this very easy and also helps the driver potentially get out of trouble if they accidently rev it past 4000 rpm and the cops deem the car is too loud. The German police impounds cars on the spot if the measured decibels are too high.
