Brake noise

Hey everyone

Brand new 2020 C63s with 7000 km on it.

Whenever i press the brake lightly (especially on low speeds) there is a whistle noise.. if i pushed the brakes more it goes.

I have a 2017 C63s Sedan with 9000 miles on it and same thing happens. Drove it a little hard over the weekend and now when I touch a break lightly at say 10mph or something, there is little bit of "whistling" noise. Its fairly normal from what Ive read on this forum and owning previous performance oriented cars.

Not sure about a "whistle" noise but last fall at 12K miles (just bought the car) I started to notice a lot of brake noise at slow speeds like pulling up to my garage at my Condo (walls around me). And I had no brake warnings or lights in the car.

I happen to have the car at MB for some warranty work and asked them to look at my brakes and it turned out that my rear pads were pretty gone...especially the one that is not on the side that has the wire sensor. Had them replaced and problem gone. Oh and the car was a CPO car so I was reimbursed by MB for the brake pad replacement.

Along with learning that MB uses the rear brakes for traction control I now drive my coupe with all traction control turned off. It helps save the rear pads and the brake dust on rear wheels (worse rear wheel brake dust I have ever seen on a modern performance car before I started doing this).

Brake noise on a car of this caliber IS NORMAL. You want quiet, install some less-efficient ceramic pads. Then try stopping real fast.... The noise represents you are driving not just a car, but a well designed highly-tuned beast of an automobile meant for sustained speeds of in excess of 160mph. It's normal. Enjoy the squeal.
