Painting of Twin Turbo heat shield

Hi everyone, I wanted to get some feedback and any suggestions from you all around painting the Turbo heat shield in the C63s. I have recently had mine professionally painted (candy red and looked amazing!) and literally the same day after driving home from picking it up the paint showed some cracks. I assume from the heat. The business that did the job is an extremely professional outfit and advised me they used paint that withstands 750dgs celsius and uses the same paint when painting brake callipers and engine blocks. We both could only come to the conclusion that the temps the shield get must be higher and due to it being quite thin it. Has anyone out there had any successful experience in painting their shield? If so, was there anything special you needed to do to prep it and/or finish it off and lastly, what paint did you use? Thanks in advance....

Since it's a thin piece, the cracking might be due to it expanding and contracting as a result of the heat.

Powdercoat it. It gets way too hot and the aluminum will expand and contract ruining any paint.

yea, wondered that! Im not sure what the painter used but he said it would withstand 750dgs celcius but alas no. Do you think a powder coat (are there different types?) first then the candy red on top would work? I'm after a nice look/finish like in my pics

Ceramic coating is probably best as it can take the high heat and reduce temperature ...its comes in a few different colours

Maybe I’m not hip but why even bother painting the turbo shield. Unless you enter your car into car shows then I get it.

Thing is with high temp paint, the items you would typically paint like a block or a stove or something are not going to expand and contract as much as that heat shield. It wasn't the heat directly that killed the paint, the paint didnt breakdown or burn; it's the metal substrate expanding and contracting and just pulling the paint apart.
Not sure if powdercoating will be better.
If your paint guy doesnt have an answer, find another paint guy.

This forum cracks me up. So much good info, and so many intolerant posters. So what if it doesn't fit into your "idea" of what a Mercedes Benz AMG C63 should be. Relax and let people enjoy their car in their own way. If you don't have anything worthwhile to add to the OP's thread, either keep it to yourself, or gtfo.

I can't believe this still has to be said.

whoa relax bro, I’m not hating on the guy or his shield. I was just asking about it and he explained it to me. I get it. I’m all about people enjoying their cars and personalizing it. I wasn’t coming at him like you think I am. Let’s not assume bro.

Dont worry about it, or him, you have some keyboard warriors that just need to vent and or attempt to create drama so they have something to do during the day...... (my assumption)

I had posed the question of using CF. Was also told it would be too hot for that.
