False brake pad wear error

How to reset “brake pad wear” message
So just got my cpo ‘17 c63 with new pads and rotors. Had it for a week, just washed it including the rims which were full of brake dust. Now I got the “check brake pad wear” message, which i know is a false alert but somehow the cleaning tripped a sensor I guess, restarted car a few times and still got the error. How do I clear this thing? Is that only done at dealer?

If you're still having issues and want to ensure it's not a defective sensor or module/wiring circuit, you can unplug the sensor (on passenger-side caliper, remove wheel) then short the 2 pins with a small gauge wire. The warning should then go away when you cycle the ignition to on.
The sensor is normally a closed circuit and is opened when the sensor is "cut" by the disc rotor when it's exposed within the brake pad due to the pad being worn down to about 3 mm thickness.
Sensors are a relatively inexpensive part (even from the dealer) but do require the pad to be removed in order to replaced (which is also pretty easy ... see Mr. Google/YouTube for more info).
